i observed from sony soundbars specifications some models supports lpcm 2.ch some are upto 5.1,7.1 .what is lpcm?is it better than dolby?when it matters?
Dolby is a format which can be either 2.0 or 5.1 or 7.1 and Normally LPCM which is uncompressed audio signal is rated to be below Dolby and DTS format. For normal systems like sound bars or HTIB a good 5.1 or 7.1 LPCM recording will be good and you won’t find much differencei observed from sony soundbars specifications some models supports lpcm 2.ch some are upto 5.1,7.1 .what is lpcm?is it better than dolby?when it matters?
Do you have the link to the product? I’ll check specs and clarify.sony s40 soundbar hv only lpcm 2ch , does 5.1 works on non Dolby, dts formats?
Ok it supports 5.1 Dolby format and 2.0 in LPCM. So you don’t have to think to much and confuse your self. If the content you play has LPCM 5.1 recording it should most probably downstream and play it in 2.0 format. DD it will support 5.1
This is a different sound bar from Samsung5.1 works only on dolby, dts formats?

thanx, how can we identify that audio enabled to lpcm? does all 5.1(non dolby, dts) are lpcm? just like some movies showing only 5.1 but not dolby on NetflixIf it’s Dolby digital all channels should work
Some sound bars have a small display which will show the output signal. Also you should be having some decoders that lets you upstream 2.0 to 5.1. I just checked YouTube and there are many unboxing and review videos available. I will recommend you watching them to get a live user experience on all scenariosthanx, how can we identify that audio enabled to lpcm? does all 5.1(non dolby, dts) are lpcm? just like some movies showing only 5.1 but not dolby on Netflix
