My friend has recently purchased Anthem MRX710 avr.
This are rated at 120 watts continuous power @ 8 ohms into 7 channels. What speakers would you suggest to match this for 2 channel audio for music purpose?

Paradigm speakers may be a good match for Anthem.
Both companies belong to the same group and so they will be cross testing product lines.
Cheers,
Raghu

without stating budget, listening choices and room etc its like taking a potshot and everyones feedback will be a valid one to consider.

Anthem itself is a neutral amp and since the ownership changed to paradigm, they match very well with that line of speakers. Preferably you would get the best with floor standers as there is loads of power that can be driven out these amps.

I recently bought Anthem MRX 720.

has any one auditioned Paradigm speakers with them.

I am planning to replace my speaker set up and was looking at advice of which speakers will go well with them

Hi

There are lot of speakers available in the market....tough completion....you need to see which ones fulfills your requirements in terms of size, appearance, performance and of course budget.....(floor standers / bookshelfs / satellites)

If budget is a constraint, see the For Sale by Owner section or Hi Fi ads...good speakers are available at reasonable rates...

How much did it cost you? I was thinking of it as well but may not be in near future.

MRX 710 sounded very good with Paradigm Monitor 11 when i did audition an year back. You could clearly notice the raw unbridled power unleashed from the amp. That was the amp i liked the best but could not afford to buy it.
Their floorstanding Prestige series is probably even better than Monitor series.

Anthem produce great electronics. Many consider them above the usual brands like Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha and even Marantz. However, they sell for relatively high price in India.
I would recommend you the KEF R series speakers and the Revel Performa series.
Pairing them with any lesser speakers would be wasting your amazing piece of Electronic IMHO. If your budget restricts you from buying these speakers then you can go for the new Elac Uni-Fi Floorstands, which sell at a very competitive price in US.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
