They can upgrade firmware remotely if not supported.

Got a call today from Tata sky that they are introducing Colors HD and she said something about increasing the prices as well.
Also about making individual channels as add on.
I think it is time to switch over to some other provider.
They are making TV watching Costly day by day by offering Crap HD channels which no one wants to watch

Could you be bit elaborate on source of this information. As of now never heard of Star Cricket HD discontinuation.

Also when others are adding chennl everyday I dont think Tatasky will risk removing HD channel that too a Star Family one.

I didn`t mean to say Star Cricket HD will not be available...

Along with Dhamaal Mix pack, except Star Crcket Hd, ESPN HD and Star Movies HD all other HD channels will be available at Rs. 100 (HD fee)...

to avail these 3 we must have their SD version subscribed...

Ultimately they are increasing the charges...

If i need just star cricket HD then i have to subscribe to star cricket SD (rs 40) to get it in HD...

Correct me if I am wrong..

In my honest and humble opinion, Videocon D2H is the best bet for HD channels (22 channels as of date). Never mind if there is 5.1 audio or not with D2H. Does audio really matter with crappy soap operas?

+1, Tata Sky is continuously (and cleverly) increasing their subscrition fees, I got several irritating calls saying that now I have to take a few SD channels along with the HD pack in order to watch those HD channel. I hope they are going to loose customers soon, haven't tried videocon yet, when I tried for it last month HDR was not in stock, so went with Airtel

addition of another crappy (for me) Colors HD and leaving out movies now and Ten HD doesn't make sense....

TataSky has always been on the expensive side. I switched from DishTV because of quality issues especially for HD. I am subscribed to the Mega Lite pack and have price protection till Jan, 2013.

The new mega pack is now Rs. 6400 (up from Rs. 5500). The 2nd HD connection is Rs. 2200 (up from Rs. 1760). So in effect, I shall be paying Rs. 112 extra per month from Jan 2013. And I get only 10 HD channels ... OK add the crappy Colors HD from Oct-8 which no one in our home watches. I would have been happier if there was Movies Now HD or Zee Cafe HD. Perhaps Bloomberg HD is also welcome. But no. I am getting some more crap in HD.

God knows what the rates will be in Jan, 2013.

Before the change happens, if I go with Annual MEGA pack, will it protect me from price change?
