If its TataSky or Videodcon for better picture quality on 55Inch Led TV??

i want good quality on regional channels, rather getting convicned with maximum number of channels what ppl are taking on video con.

kindly share your inputs.

I suspect, but cannot confirm, that Tatasky is a little shade better in terms of pure picture quality. Only a side by side review can confirm this and this is next to impossible. But Videocon wins on VFM front as it gives more channels (especially HD) for less.

I have already written about my views on the logos on my facebook as well as twitter posts. If anybody can give the details about the pages of star sports will surely write about the same.

Does Star World Premiere HD appear not to have many takers?
Today's TS HD offer is of Rs 7 for the first month.

This thread is close on 3 years old we got to start thinking about asking : When will D2H start adding to their "22 HD" channels- not counting the Pay per channel " Star HD Premier" and " HBO" .....or maybe that is the way new HD channels will be added. I just wish that all DTH providers would give a cost price for EACH & EVERY channel and let customers order from a genuine " A La Carte" menu.

They hold such promotions for a lot of channels and stuff every month. I think last month it was for English news pack and the month before it was English GEC pack and before that it was one of their activ services. Just a simple marketing move to find more subscribers. Nothing to do with popularity of the channel/service.

I'm waiting/hoping for a similar deal for the new hbo channels. Don't really watch cable anymore (netflix rocks!) but will grab these two channels for a month just so I can record and keep 20-30 odd movies for the rainy day (when broadband or Netflix is down for some reason).

No word on Videocon but the two channels aren't only on tata sky. You can get them on airtel (SD only) and dish tv (both SD & HD) as well. Along with a few local cable operators like Hathaway & Den etc.

My old sun hd settop box of Samsung make has hdmi board problems. And i was given the new box made by coship--a chinese company. This settop box also has recording facility using external usb stick.
But now i see that the new box though has the 1080i 60hz conversion facility, has very very inferior picture quality than the earlier samsung settop box.
So i am planning to change to a new provider.
Please advise me , which settop box has the best pq.
I hear from this thread that tata sky may be the one with good pq.
Between airtel/tata sky which one wins in pq?

My 2 cents on this. I also thought on similar lines. After going for Videocon D2h my perspective has changed. Specially for HD channels, i have watched TS for ages and now also have D2h. The PQ on D2h is same to TS no difference. On HD content it looks the same no difference at all. I have not watched SD stuff as i am only watching HD channels on DTH. Cost wise D2h gives bang for the buck.

My recommendation give D2h a shot once and try it out.You won't be disappointed. TS PQ is more of a hype after viewing D2H i can confirm that.

In the D2h thread i had posted a short review for my scenario. Go through the same , hope it helps.

Ultimately the decision is yours.

a question from me, do other dth providers charge an HD access fee?? or is it only Tata Sky?

Nope, D2h does not charge HD access fee. I have an add on pack that is HD Globe, cost for the same Rs is Rs 169 monthly. I get 21 HD channels in this add on pack. On TS, i had to pay Rs 100 HD access fee and get only those HD channels that i had SD subscription for. It was more expensive than Videocon DTH and less channels.

Now i am happy with D2H as i am getting 21 HD channels and i only watch the same. It is covering most of my needs.

A bit late but I believe should add my two cents. Finally TS have added HBO Premium Channels and I am rally bowled over by its PQ/SQ. Its by far the best looking HD channel in TS beside SWP. Some people are do whining about the utility of both the channels as movies are repeatating in nature. But believe me watching old movies in HD changed my perception all toghether. Last night I watched The Matrix in HBO Hitz ( Probably 200+th time) and it glued me to the screen. So all and all I am pleased with these additions.

I subscribed to these 2 add on HD channels(HBO Defined and HBO Hits) from HBO. Its worth the money we pay as they show not only the new movies but also the old hit movies in HD. And another thing which i noticed in HBO Defined is the mix of English/Hindi movies in HD.
