When TataSky is adding more HD channels

Actually, I don't understand why Tatasky is being cursed for the HD access fee. All providers have separate rate for the equivalent SD and HD packages. For instance, D2H has platinum SD and platinum HD packages where the HD package cost is more of course. So how does this differ from Tatasky pricing? Or am I missing something?

well bro in d2h we can choose lowest SD chs pack and add HD Top Up which contains all HD chs, in Tata Sky we have to subscribe to highest SD chs pack to view all HD chs

Same policy (now in d2h) was in Tata Sky too, but last year they changed it as access fee to get HD channels for base pack. There is no surety that d2h will keep this forever, they can change it anytime.

The 6 new HD channels have just started in Tatasky HD. Coming at NO additional cost to all mega pack subscribers :clapping:

Zee Studio HD looks great but its sound is messed up -quite in line with all Zee HD channels- they ll never have proper 5.1 -only uneven panned audio in 5 channels.

The two south HD channels look with weird aspect ratio- probably upscaled. Not sure about sound yet.

Life ok and Sony six are good looking and sounding well as are all Star and sony HD channels.

CNBC Prime HD- finally- I get to see one news channel in proper 16:9 ratio and good quality HD.

So Tatasky in on a rampage to add HD channels. They even have added Regional Ones to lure Regional customers. Only issue is that CNBC Prime is a waste instead they should have either FOx Traveller or History TV 18

Zee Studio HD
Life Ok HD
Sony Six HD
CNBC TV18 Prime HD (No Dolby Digital)

Now, this is a way of making customers happy and stick with TS, atleast for sometime. :yahoo:

Sun HD
Gemini HD

That makes it a total of 19 HD channels with Megapack, 3 Pay and 2 Regionals. A total of 24 HD Channels.

After watching a lot of blu-ray, even 1080i like "Planet Earth", the HD quality is nothing great on any channel; good but not great. But coming to above channels, CNBC is good, Life ok and Zee Cafe id not so good, Sony Six is good.

In this way, earlier it was 1200/- annually but now they will charge 1500/-p.a.

My annual subscription is expiring in 1st week of May. Not sure what should I do, all operators are ready to rob by hook or by crook.

This was expected, i had posted some time back, that if they are adding channels, it would come with a rider and they would bump up the cost. Finally they did it.

I like D2h this way, pay Rs 170 and watch all HD channels except premium ones.
Not to worry about access fees or whether you have the channel in your SD pack or not.

Same policy was in Tata Sky but they changed that last year. After switching to other (either d2h) if they do same thing in future then there will be no use to switch.

The tatasky website shows cost of HD access plan for 6 and 12 months as 600/- and 1200/- Maybe only the monthly prices are jacked up to 125/-...

Definitely they will update it soon as earlier it was monthly 100/- and 1200/- annually. So there is no difference in monthly or annually but a plus point in annual subscription is to safe from price revision like they did now. It will not effect on annual subscribers but on other ones.
Now they have added few channels

6 now and couple of earlier; Movies Now, Zee Tv, Ten HD, Star Sports 1-2.

^ I can already see the day not to far when every damn HD channel will have an ad free version under special category of tatasky so that it is 'specially' chargeable!! Looks like clear daylight robbery IMO.

I told TS that I would expect a "clean screen" without the "Press the "RED" button" and also a much smaller Star Sports logo etc, if I were to pay for the channel, no response from them as yet.
Can anyone here confirm if the "Red button" logo is appearing in today/ all games ? I am sure they will soon come up with some indirect ads, like a players sponsor logo or holding a bottle/can of soft drink in the hand of a commentator/player/spectator during the break between overs!
