Which budget sub can do 20hz

Hmm, I notice there are some subs which go to around 32-35hz around the sub 20k mark.

I like the kef c4 at 20k,

anyone heard kef c4 and have any views on its comparison to say wharfedale sw150 and jamo sub 250?

Look at this picture of a Sony subwoofer. This is what I call honesty. They themselves are calling it a super woofer as there is nothing sub about it.

SONY 150 Watt Sony Subwoofer SA-W505

Well what do you expect at that price ?

Even if you DIY, making an inert and heavy cabinet worthy of a 12 inch subwoofer driver will cost you around 6 to 8k. The cost of the amp and driver will add to the cost quite a bit.

200$ sub will probably have some 3 k worth of total components including cabinet. There will be nothing SUB about it for sure. :)

20hz you said.
I think what he means is maybe the PB1000 can go down to 20Hz - but that does not mean it is a high quality bass experience. As he says 40-80Hz the sub is lacking so you’re losing quality in probably the largest segment of bass recorded as very few instances will actually go down to 20Hz. A lot of the bass will be between 40 - 80, and as the PB-1000 does not perform well there its overall a poor experience

Yes i had pb 2000 pro and was good for movies only. Indiam original music cds sounded bad. He needs sealed sub maybe sb3000 willl be a good choice

Well i had pb 2000 pro in my 13x11feet room it was best in deep bass. You might not be setting subwoofer right position
Did you check the measurements, distortion levels, max spl achieved??
Mostly the second harmonic distortions are heard and felt..
That's why these subs sound pathetic for music, and a good sub for movies must sound great for music too

Did not check in REW but spectre 4k opening scene was very good with no distortion

By looking at specifications of subwoofer, How do we know if it will distort at 20 hz or 16hz. As many brands put in specs their frequency range 16hz-250hz that does not mean it will not distort at 16hz say svs pb 1000 pro. So how do we calculate with specs that it will easily do 16hz without distortion. What specs to watch for except frequency range.

Distortion doesn’t correlate to frequency range - it corresponds to “loudness” or SPL level. At some point as you go louder, speakers distort.

Look for max SPL in the spec, not every brand publishes it. That will tell you how loud a subwoofer can play, which will give you and indication of which subs can go louder without distortion compared to others.

Is there any budget sub that can do 20-25hz under the 20k mark?
Also, if a sub can do 20hz, does it mean it will have a higher degree of punch / air pressure change compared to a 30hz one or thats dependant on other factors?

You are asking BMW for below 10 lac price..........

even when I bought SVSPB1000 (18Hz) 10 years back, it costs around 42k
