Which Gamning Console?? Yelp!!

I want to buy a gaming console finally!! I haven't owned one before except media and nintendo long back! I have played some pc games like Unreal and Project IGI but again long back. I am very confused over the latest gaming consoles.
I am considering the ps2, ps3, ps3 slim, ps3 move, xbox 360, xbox 360 elite, Xbox kinect.
My budget is currently for the ps2 around 6k but if the other consoles offer way better features then i might extend my budget!! Please help me choose, i know they are a lot of choices. And do new games which get released on the xbox and ps3, also get released on the ps2??
I seriously need help guys

the games which are released for PS3 do not get released for PS2

if you can afford the games then go for the PS3 since you will get a blu-ray player as well

but the games will set you back by about 2k to 3k each

buy XBOX 360 if you need cheap games since pirated dvd's are available

but if you dont need the latest games you can buy the ps2 as well

PS3 Slim = Great gaming console + Blu-Ray player + Media centre

Get the Move bundle (320 GB) if you're interested in it. Else, the 160GB or 320GB models are available separately too.

If you'll be doing a lot of blu-ray watching, then I suggest you get the Blu-Ray remote as well.

Do you like any specific game?
Because few games are exclusive and not available on both xbox and ps3..
So you will have to choose console for the games you like

ps3 is versatile.. works great as BD Player and Media Player as well..

xbox can be easily modded to play "backed-up" games..

ps3 with 250gb HDD @20k.while xbox360 costs only 10.5k and kinect @10k.ps3 games costs 2-3k so its upto u if u can afford 2-3k for a singlegame..

ahrite so ps3 slim is the way to go i suppose...but are there any differences feature wise between the ps3 slim and normal ps3 apart from the obvious size differenece?? I will be probably playing popular titles like GTA, Mafia 2, and some racing games. Are there different versions for ps3 like 3.4 or 3.5??

nah i dont think so.i used to have my ps3 which can also play original ps2 game cds.damn i miss my ps3.the yellow light of death killed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!ps3 moov for 23.5k is my next move.i would suggest that for you too!!!!!!!

Go for PS3 Slim with or without move bundle .. Its your choice...

PS3 - Amazing graphics
PS3 - BluRay
PS3 - Play DVD/ AUDIO CDs with decent quality
PS3 - Media center (play all your internet media)
PS3 - Jailbrake and use downloaded games too..
PS3 - Wish for jailbrake on playing all region blurays. :licklips:
PS3 - Online gaming network (pretty good what I heard)

The Slim versions of all players are usually cooler and less noisey . That was the fact observed with both PS2 and PS3 . SO yeah it would be cooler and less power hungry . I thinks there is no substantial difference in performance as on PS3 Fat and Slim. Personally i own a PS2 slim now . I have asked my cousin to get an XBOX 360 refurbd from US . Game stop is selling them for 100 USD which is dirt cheap even cheaper than my PS2 which is 6K INR . I havent got it . So i cant comment on the quality . Also the XBOX have been plagued with RROD's . Its a problem which has been observed by an estimate of 35% of total XBOX 360 .
Yes I knew about it . But why i bought . Well the simplest reason was that I wanted to play few XBOX 360 games like Halo etc . Also Xbox games are dirt cheap . Even without games Xbox is a good HDMI media player to play via USB or network then Kinect is in the horizon and games would be available at cheap price to us . its the most comprehensive comparison i have ever come across . please go thru this ones . I have liked Xbox 360 ever since . PS3 has an advantage of Bluray player and it is huge . but how much an independent Bluray player costs 10K i think it would be around 5K in about 1 year . Its far of cost u have to buy legit bluray Disk which are expensive . Also in the Near future most of the HD content would be streamed via net on Netflix Apple TV etc . so bluray would not be worth buying in near future

My two cents which is different from what everyone else is saying.

If you dont want HD and may not watch too many blu ray players...and if you are not a serious gamer and have a family or will have a family soon..then I would suggest WII. I have one for past couple of years and its a great console..I have not serious games on it..but it does have racing games and FPS games as well.

I have hacked my wii and download games for free from torrents. Not entirely ethical..but then its not legally sold in India..hence not illegal atleast.

Plus the add ons to 360 and playstation for motion controllers alone cost around 10K whereas you can a wii from US for 185 dollars everything included. Add another remote for 35 dollars and for less than 225 dollars you are all set.

again if you are a gaming freak or like 1080p..then its not for you...I have a 46 inches samsung lcd and dont really miss hidef since wii is all about fun and not pixel peeping. the other day i was trying motor storm on PS3 at a shop and let me tell you that mario kart on wii seemed much more fun...

but again i am 36 yrs old with two infants.......so you make the call

yes..

but you have to pay for it whereas Playstation network(PSN) is free to use!

and not many people play online all the time but do like to keep the option open so it would not make sense to pay for xbox live if you are unsure about using it all the time

and besides PSN is quite good as far as the gameplay is concerned..
keeping achievements and other added stuff aside!
