So I took a demo of benq 1080, panasonic ar100 and epson 6600.
I liked benq, the panasonic i found a little bland in terms of colour, the epson i found more vibrant but the picture was grainy.
I need to mount it in the living room and project on a 120in screen.
all these are around the one lac price point.
Help me decide.
I also need to know if i need exotic hdmi cables or bandridge is fine? I need about 10m to 12m cable. The guy from the shop is pushing audioquest.
What screen to buy? I found huge price differences. going from 30k to 50k for a motorized 120in screen.
Thanks guys.

I'm using a fixed screen priced 12k n it's very good. Reg HDMI, if buying lesser priced one just make sure to test the same to see if it's working in which case, no need to buy expensive one.

U sure its 10-12 meter and not feet ?

If its meter then thats pretty long. So make sure u buy a signal Booster HDMI cable. Normal will deifnitely cause trouble if not immediately then in near future.

A good HDMI cable performs good enough for 25-30 feet which is around 10m.......

Recently got BenQ W1070 my self. I was contemplating between Optoma HD26 and BenQ, but colors on BenQ really good.

With respect to HDMI cable got Bluerigger 15 meter cable from Amazon.in for 2k, its really value for money, everything works seamlessly. Tried some of the 1k cables from ebay, none worked, now in the process of return.

Good luck with setup!

So I have finally decided on the benq 1070+ .
Now I need help with the screen.
1) The viewing distance is 18'.
2) The screen has to be motorized as there is a tv on the same wall.
3) The wall is 11' broad
4) This is a living room, the floor is white, walls are white , ceiling is white. far from ideal .
5) The speakers are x1t from PSB which are just under 3' in height and 1' in width.

I am a newbie and been researching a lot on the internet and other forums.
Screen placement.

  1. I read that 1/3 of the screen should be below eye level and 2/3 above, this makes the screen end at above 1.5' from the floor, also my projector having limited lens shift will be hanging 2' from the ceiling. IS THIS NECESSARY?

If I were to mount the screen low I can fit in a 120" diagonal screen between the speakers but if I mount it higher up with the screen ending over the speakers I can go in for a 140" screen as I get to utilize the extra width the speakers occupy. WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THIS?

What kind of screen should I be buying? A matt white or a grey one? Projector puts out 2200 lumens advertized.
    What brand to buy ?
What is the sweet spot for quality vs price?
Indian screen or chinese or american brand?
Milan, liberty, liberty grand view, elite screens?

Thanks guys. It was way easier to decide on the projector.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
