I have a large number of DVDs, bought over time from various sources and stores. I was wondering if you still buy DVDs, if yes, when do you plan to start buying blu rays. Do you plan to sell your DVDs and then buy Blu Rays of the same movies?

Generally yes, movies like TDK and Gladiator which I bought on DVD, I have now bought the Blu ray. I havent sold them yet, but plan to some day.

However, some movies you feel there is no real value on moving to BD esp. comedies or romantic or such genre. For action, sci-fi only BD.

Although, with the pricing from Amazon UK its very tempting to buy BD irrespective of genre.

I have the following DVDs that I wish to switch to BDs. I have intention to sell them. But I am not sure whether anyone wants to buy them:
  1. ABBA, The Movie - Region 1
  2. Bionicle The Movie - Region 1
  3. The Da Vinci Code - Region 1
  4. The General's Daughter - Region 1
  5. The Golden Child - Region 1
  6. Gone with the Wind - Special Ed Box Set (4 DVDs) - Region 1
  7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Region 1
  8. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Region 2
  9. Harry Potter and the Prisnor of Azkaban - Region 2
  10. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Region 0

  14. Lethal Weapon 2 - Region 1
  15. Lethal Weapon 3 - Region 1
  16. Lethal Weapon 4 - Region 1
  17. The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring - Region 1
  18. The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers - Region 2
  19. The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King - Region 2
  20. LOTR Extended Edition Box Set (Indian Edition - Region 0) consisting of
    - The Fellowship of the Ring
    - The Two Towers
    - The Return of the King
  21. Ocean's Eleven - Region 2
  22. Ocean's Twelve - Region 1

  28. Star Wars II - The Attack of the Clones - Region 0
  29. Star Wars III - The Revenge of the Sith - Region 0
  30. Thirteen Days - Region 1
I am willing to sell all of the above for Rs. 500/- each incl. shipping, except for Gone with the Wind and LOTR Extended Box Set which I will price at Rs. 1000/- each (incl. shipping).

Yes and no.

1. The BD pack sold in USA is many a times higher priced than UK, and vice versa too. But UK item box usually contains a single BD while in US, it has an additional bonus disc or digital copy or 3-in-1, etc.
2. When taken importing in context, the free shipping from Amazon,UK makes a lot of difference and hence a BD will ultimately be cheaper.
3. There are many who are not interested in the extra discs containing studio footage, interviews, trivia, storyboarding data, etc.

So it is a disc to disc (or rather title to title) case as to what is cheaper where.

Very true. The situation gets further complicated since the prices themselves are not constant - they keep moving up and down. Very confusing !!
