Over here, let's discuss new released albums that are worth considering across the languages, artists and genres. This can really widen our horizons on World Music and know about many good new releases that go unnoticed. It is better if we can share only new releases here as there are different other threads for older ones.

So folks please share the new numbers that you recently heard and liked. Looking forward to your participation.

Regards.

A great idea for a thread. I am not at all in tune with the new music being created out there, very much an old-school guy I am. This will I hope give me new music to taste and then relish. Many well deserved thanks for a thread like this.

While I write that I am not much in touch with new music, I recently saw the movie 'Across the Universe', it is a musical quite different and the soundtrack is just amazing. Based on the 60s and with the sound of that iconic era.
I chose to listen to the tracks after watching the movie. Dana Fuchs who plays the part of Sadie in the movie in my opinion is a real talent. If you like strong, bold and unapologetic female vocal then you will really like her. And yes, she is bound to remind you of Janis, that in itself is worth a listen. :)

I am exactly the same. An old school guy when it comes to music. Stopped exploring new music for quite sometime now. Yesterday, I was attending my son's Annual function day in his school. There I heard few music tracks which was good and unheard. Although I have "shazm" app with me but I forgot to use it. Hence came the idea of this thread. Thanks for appreciation.

Regards.

Thanks for the pointer. I will check them out.

Recently have been listening to "I" by A.R. Rahman and "Yennai Arindhal" By Harris Jayaraj, Tamil flim music...

Both are very good...

I agree. But neither are World Music.

Cheers

Err! My mistake. I never intended to bind the thread within the genre of "World Music" as per definition but those released across the globe.

Mods, can we change the thread title to something like "Worthy new Music releases around the World" or "Worthy new releases in the World of Music" or something more apt please?

Regards.

There are already multiple threads for new and old music. Why start another one?

I used to hear lot of ambient music on FTV, those music sounded more like African tune; but those days, smart phone was not in existence. Searched on the net but to no avail.....

This thread deals in 'new releases in World Music' but sadly, present day music fails to enthuse me. As far as world music is concerned, I still bask in the glory of Enigma, Deep Forest, Karl Jenkins, ERA, Rond Veneziano, Karunesh, Hevia.........(actually, there are quite a few) kind of music. Hope this thread enlightens me about present day world music.

Thanks Koushik, for starting this thread.

Some of the most outstanding "world music" releases are on the ECM label. Though the bulk of their repertoire is jazz, they have some great artists who can only be labelled as world music. And we're not talking ambient/lounge music here.

If Neo-Classical classifies as World Music.
"Olafur Arnalds- Living Room Songs " is worth checking out.
Not new, got back to listening classical and neo classical & ambient. So thought would share.

He even offers free 128kbps download so that one can try and then purchase CD/Vinyl.
