Yamaha Subwoofer Yst-Sw315 for 19k

Yamaha YST-SW315 Vs any entry level sub from let's say Velodyne or Wharfedale or Polk or KEF

No rewards for guessing which is what..

:ohyeah::lol:

What about Yamaha sub vs Sonodyne/ Astonia? Can the above posted pic be still applicable?

:rolleyes: Well I haven't heard them so can't comment. May be yes, with a couple of teeth less. :p Not sure.

If you compare with Yamaha, You can't get better sub within this price than Yamaha. You have spend more than 20K-25K to get better results. It's 250W and 270 Dynamic Power. Definitely 19.8K is considerable price for this Sub. Its current market price is above 26K-32K (depends on seller) but here is Snapdeal price :D:lol:

But have you heard it? Or just going by the wattage ratings? :rolleyes:
Because I heard it in Hypercity and it was just coughing up and started distorting at moderate volumes. May be it could sound better in closed space but I still doubt if it can compete with entry level subs of brands I mentioned. It may be a good deal for 20k but I guess for 5-10k more, there are a few other options. Infact KEF C4 which was available at 19k sounded better to me.

The power rating of this sub is fairly misleading. It says 250W continuous but in manual it says 250W at 5 ohms at 100 hz at 10% THD. AFAIK, the power needed for -10db at 100 hz is way lesser than same output at say 40Hz. And we all know that power needed to drive 5 ohm driver is much lesser than it does for a 8 ohm driver, especially in low frequencies. And 10% THD? That's not clean bass in my books atleast.

But the snapdeal pricing :lol:

Yes, I am using it. According to me it is better than entry level Subs. Velodyne EQ-Max series is better than this Yamaha for obvious reasons. So IMHO Go for other brands if you can stretch your budget otherwise Yamaha is good at this price (at-least). Its reviews are good too.

That Snapdeal pricing (Rs 67869/-) is after 20% discount, actual price is Rs 84837/- :yahoo: :lol: :D

Santy dude, you are a riot. I spilt my beer on the floor when i saw that pic. A pic speaks a thousand words :)

Lolz :p

But that was too harsh and I have to take my (1000) words back. Though I still doubt its performance, I did not probably hear it in right environment (I know sub is very sensitive to placement) and I fully trust the opinion of prepress in this regard since he owns it. Sorry, no offence meant to anyone. Opinions are subjective.

+1, but I would definitely like to upgrade my Sub any day with Velodyne EQ-Max 12".

Lolz :p
