4 CDP's

I like Audionote too. But I doubt this particular player would be able to beat the Bluenote Stibbert Tube player that is in your vicinity.

The Audio Note, seems to be virtually new and is priced at 2900 SGD.Less 7%GST rebate.Rounding off the price to 2600 SGD,it works out to 91K,excluding customs. How much would the Goldnote Stibbert be available for?

The audionote's are very good, especially at their transport section and presentation is very musical. My feeling has always been that they compromise with resolution .

At the source level My preference is always to get as much detail with the most neutrality as you can and leave the "caramelization" to the Amp/Speaker combo...do evaluate others including Ayre..

AFAIK, Jacob at JnB sound has a 2 year old Stibbert for sale at 70k. This particular player has upgraded Telefunken tubes. You could talk to Jacob about it. Just in case you do not know, Jacob is the dealer of Goldenote/Bluenote in India.

You could also talk to our forum member Jaibir who has the latest model Stibbert (still under warranty) for sale, I think he is expecting about 110k.

As Arj has noted Audionote gets good from their 3.X series. Their 4.X series is where I would really put my money but they get pretty expensive.

Fantastic CDPs..but a new one is pretty expensive, at that range there are lots of other CDPs also to consider
there is an Audio Aero prestige also up for sale in Mumbai(not sure of it is still available)

If willing to spend US$2000-2500 for a good and used CD player, I will still stand by my suggestion of Resolution Audio Opus 21, followed by Ayre C-7xe and Audio Note. The Audio Note has a tube output stage like the Bluenote Stibbert. But I have heard from users of Stibbert that it is highly prone to vibrations and you really need a good stand to place it. The Audio Note does not employ upsampling, something most other players do, and though opinions differ about its lack of resolution, practically every user agrees to its analogue like sound.
Of course, there are several other contenders in this price range (I mean used players) and it is a matter of your choice and luck.

Good luck and cheers.

sold - I think - 6 months back - Cochin @ 250/- K I think...

The EMC -1 may be for sale - my old player @ Rs. 85/- K - I know the owner, if some one is interested, do pm me.. I will put you in touch with the current owner....

I did have this CD Player - several years back.
It is a good player.
Dated, but nice none the less.
It will do well in most average set ups.
Will give a great run for the money to player under 1 lac.
However, current players 'digital' have progressed a lot & there fore this in todays context is a 5 / 10 player....

Does any forum member, especially in the NCR have an Ayre 5xe or 7xe?
Murali has mentioned on this thread that he has one.But since his location is 'neither here nor there' he would be hard to pin down:)

Has anybody heard the following?
Audio Reseach CD3/2
BAT VK-D5
Lector CDT-7
SoundStage! Equipment Review - Audio Research CD3 Mk II CD Player (4/2005)
Stereophile: Balanced Audio Technology VK-D5 CD player

"BTW,there is a demo Bluenote Stibbert Tube CDP on sale by the India dealer JNBSound."
JNBSound is Jacob Koshy,if I'm not mistaken?I have been in touch with Jacob a couple of times and he came across as very helpful and well informed.
Apparently below the Stibbert there is a Goldnote Koala too.Any information about this one.A cdp named after an Australian marsupial sounds promising!
Bluenote cd player

I will be "here" the whole of next week but am afraid Chandigarh to Cochin is too long a way to come down to listen to Ayre. By the way, I have the C-5xe and not the C-7xe. In fact I was about to buy a new C-7xe for $3000 when I came across a C-5xe, < 2 years old, for additional $1000 and went for it. I won't say there is a significant difference in redbook playback though the C-5 sounds better but there is a major advantage in that it plays SACD, DVD-A, why even MP-3, etc etc, but all only in 2-channel. Of course, I believe in the natural order of things in this world, preferring stereo 2-channel music instead of multichannel (unlike movie sounds), respecting God's creation with only two ears to listen and thankfully no (5.1) further add-ons on the back or shoulders.

Good luck in your hunt.

You're right boss!If nature had wanted us to listen to 5.1 channels,it would have given us 5.1 ears:)

@ajay124 -

it has been my thinking that the .1 of a system is meant to be felt through the seat of one's pants?

so, nature should have given us 5 ears and a sensitive bun?
