I liked this DIY Revel M105 clone build here:
It uses good quality (low distortion) drivers in a DIY-able good acoustic construct.
Has rounded baffle (sides) with tweeter in an elliptical waveguide.
To me, it looks neat overall from the point of view of setting a goal (in terms of measurements and the final sound) and achieving it.
There could be many areas where the design could be improved upon like ports, crossover topology, and other things.
But even in its current state, it looks good to me as a low to moderate SPL speaker for a small room.
