HARBETH AUDIO LIMITED. (Harbeth loudspeakers) 2012 marks the 35th Anniversary of Harbeth & what a way to enter India on its 35th year. :clapping:

Welcome to the fresh, natural sound of Harbeth.

Harbeth was founded in 1977 to bring the BBC's pioneering loudspeaker designs to the serious listener at home. Today our speakers are the product of the longest-running science-based loudspeaker research programme ever undertaken. Crafted around a genuine engineering core, every Harbeth delivers accurate and involving sound at home or in the studio. The latest model is the shoe box size P3ESR now with the RADIAL2 cone from the bigger Harbeths.

Designed and made here in Linfield, Harbeths own world beating injection moulded RADIAL bass/midrange drive units are responsible for the famously clean, transparent and natural Harbeth sound a level of resolution unachievable in all conventional vacuum-formed drive units. From the shoe box sized P3ESR to the mighty Monitor 40.1, all produce beautiful, dynamic warm music thanks to the BBC engineering heritage which has allowed us to perfect the art of great sound in normal rooms at neighbour-friendly listening levels.

The combination of science, sound, performance and build quality give Harbeth users unique pride of ownership. Every one of these loudspeakers is a high performance instrument crafted to the highest standard of British audio. Rigorous component matching and attention to detail ensures that every owner will experience a lifetime of pure musical delight. Naturally there is a Harbeth to suit every home.

Owning a Harbeth is, and has always been, a life-changing experience and there's a model to perfectly match your listening environment and budget. Hand assembly and individually testing is at our factory in Lindfield, England. Customer feedback over the past thirty-two years confirms Harbeth as a truly greatest investment in serious listening.

With Harbeth at the heart of your audio system be prepared to relive your entire music collection revealing hidden sounds you will never have heard before.
Handcrafted in the U.K since 1977.

All Harbeths are handmade and individually tested in the village of Lindfield, southern England. Concentrated development work is conducted at our rural research centre. One of Lindfield's claims to fame is that in the year 1066, King Harold's archers made use of the yew trees of the village on their way to the Battle of Hastings.
Each crossover board is carefully checked and tested using computer-controlled equipment. Every finished speaker is again tested before shipment to ensure it leaves the factory in perfect condition. Careful packing, in specially-designed boxes, ensures a safe journey to the final customer.

The Harbeth brand is positioned to offer solid value for money.
The Harbeth brand appeals to those who are serious about music, who want to recreate a natural sound experience without audio equipment taking over their entire life.
The Harbeth brand offers a "brand value proposition" which places emphasis on value for money.
The Harbeth consumer is not wealthy; he is of ordinary income.
The Harbeth consumer (in many countries) has saved-up for years to buy a pair of Harbeth speakers. They are not impulse purchases. There is often personal self-sacrifice (even eating less well) to accumulate the savings needed to buy a pair.
It is important to reassure the consumer that once he had stretched his budget to purchase his Harbeth speakers he need not spend yet more money on an amplifier. That experimentation can come much later if and when he is curious..

Since 1977, Harbeth has made industry-leading loudspeakers. The British company led by Alan Shaw and recently joined by Derek Hughes (formerly of Spendor) has an irrefutable reputation for quintessential and cutting-edge design and most importantly GREAT SOUND.

Now, Absolute Phase is thrilled to announce its new role as the exclusive distributor for this outstanding company.:D

P3ESR

The all-new RADIAL coned Harbeth P3ESR is the ultimate mini monitor, the latest in a lineage that stretches back twenty years to the original Harbeth P3 and even further to the BBC's pioneering LS3/5A. A generation of home users and studio professionals have relied on these Harbeth minis to fill even the smallest room with a full, warm, natural sound. The P3ESR is the culmination of the designer's four years research into upgrading the Harbeth mini. From the new removable back panel for improved cabinet damping to the radically new bass unit yielding a wide smooth frequency response, every detail of these astonishing loudspeakers has been thoroughly honed and optimised. The objective has always been to create the genuine Harbeth sound in miniature: the P3ESR (R for RADIAL) is that much closer to reality.

The P3ESR's exceptional all-round performance flows from the perfect integration of the cabinet, drivers and crossover. Harbeth's world exclusive RADIAL2 cone technology has been lifted from the larger Harbeths and is now at the heart of this new-generation P3ESR. Designed and made by Harbeth UK, the new RADIAL2 equipped 110mm (5") bass/midrange driver (a first for Harbeth) offers the hallmark clarity and naturalness of the larger Harbeths. Breathtaking transparency, real bass and fantastic holographic imaging endow the P3ESR with grand, captivating, transparent sound presented in a conveniently small and beautiful cabinet. A new variant of the P3 family's well proven 19mm tweeter perfectly compliments the wholly new woofer and its open-weave protection keeps little fingers away but lets the fine musical details flow through.

Not only is the P3ESR capable of being used in a wide range of listening environments but it is optimised to get the best from any amplifier, even smaller ones because the electrical load is so amplifier-friendly. Designed for 'free-field' use, the optimal bass-mid-top balance is achieved when the speakers are away from walls and on suitable stands at about tweeter-ear height. As with all Harbeths, the expensively engineered SuperGrille gives the loudspeaker an uninterrupted view into the room and is designed to remain fitted during listening.

Internally, the multi-function crossover divides the sonic spectrum between the drive units perfectly aligning the acoustic output into a seamless whole, exactly as you would hear standing at the microphone. This multi-functionality requires many expensive components chosen for their excellent acoustic, electrical and long life properties. The necessarily complex P3 crossover topology is covered in 'Tech Talk, Chapter 5'. The design of the P3ESR's circuit board is available as a streaming video here.

The Harbeth P3ESR is designed to give a lifetime of listening pleasure for all types of music wherever extreme clarity and naturalness is demanded.
P3ESR mini monitor wins Japan's Stereo Sound magazine 2010 Grand Prix award! Alan has been to Tokyo to collect the Award ....

Harbeth's diminutive P3ESR took on giant floor-standers at one hundred times the price and wins in the Stereo Sound world's best new audio products 2010 round up. By far the chapest, smallest loudspeaker and the only product from a wholly-British company in the Award list -- it's great news as Harbeth's sales continue to rise. Harbeth Compact 7ES-3

Whatever you ask of the Compact 7ES-3, it always delivers: perfectly. The clarity is spellbinding and brings the 'magic carpet ride experience' to the listening room in a medium-sized enclosure.

The world-class HL Compact 7ES-3 takes the ultra-clean Harbeth-exclusive RADIAL-2 cone technology to another performance level, and has been hugely successful for Harbeth throughout worldwide markets. Add to that the new 'Open Weave' tweeter, new cabinet internal wall-damping, and lowered port tune frequency and the result is more dynamic and greater transparency This medium-sized loudspeaker combines natural sound with a flair for reproducing any and every type of music from rock to opera, jazz through folk. This latest generation is the most open and enthralling Compact ever.

The Harbeth secret for natural sound is the result of the meticulous attention to detail. In true BBC tradition, and regardless of cost, both the front and rear panels are removableto create a low inertia, low energy storage and hence low coloration cabinet. Sales in Japan, where theprevious Compact was highly popular, have confirmed that this new generation of the much loved design is a great leap forward.

Critically important but hidden is the crossover. Redesigned from the bottom-up using new-technology software this freed-up even more time for critical listening to music and speech and to minute adjustment of balance and level. The result is improved integration of the drive units across a wider horizontal and vertical arc meaning that the Compact 7ES-3 is far less critical of stand height.

"The designer ... is particularly gifted at knowing how speakers actually behave in real rooms. The design and engineering of the Compact 7 is so solid and sophisticated... that it sounds absolutely wonderful, retaining its essential neutrality and natural tonal balance..."

Harbeth SuperHL5

The SuperHL5 is capable of fantastic performance: breathtaking transparency, a huge sound stage and a total sense of being immersed in the performance. It creates a rich bass and sweet midrange that brings acoustic music alive.

The Harbeth Super HL5 is the sixth generation of the BBC's Dudley Harwood HL-Monitor which launched the Harbeth company in 1977. Retaining the same classic 'two cubic foot' proportions as the BBC LS3/6 monitor (actually a little wider), the exclusive Harbeth-made 200mm RADIAL cone bass/mid driver produces a big, warm and powerful sound that underpins the incredible midband clarity. At the highest frequencies, the 20mm main tweeter is augmented by a SuperTweeter, so that the combination results in an extended, smooth and even dispersion right to the upper edge of the audio band.

The cabinet is engineered from tradition of 'thin-wall' panels with a removable front and back, as the LS3/6, for true to life. As a real monitor, the crossover is appropriately complex for a smooth system response, accurate level setting between the drive units and operation of each drive unit within its natural range. The rear panel features a pair of biwiring terminals with the bass/midrange unit connected via the crossover to the lower pair and the main tweeter and SuperTweeter connected via its crossover to the upper pair. Biwire links are fitted at the factory for normal operation.

"Never, at any price or design type, have I heard a speaker that so completely got out of the way and let the music speak for itself. Never have I heard a speaker that exceeds the HL5's ability to reveal the artistic quality of the music and its performance. Never have I heard a speaker that does so many of the fundamentals of music reproduction so right: timbre, rhythm, phrasing, articulation, parsing, dynamic flow, sound stage reconstruction, placement of instruments, and the delineation of the ambience of the recording site are all produced with an ease and natural-ness so convincing and so adept at evoking musical gestalts that immersion into the music was as easy as breathing."

Harbeth The Monitor 20 is a professional loudspeaker designed to replace the BBC's LS3/5A. Extensively used in professional near-field monitoring applications, the Monitor 20 is exactly the right balance of sound and size that make it perfect for monitoring.

The long-throw 5.25" bass/midrange driver is shielded, so that the Monitor 20 can be used adjacent to any monitor screen including conventional Grade 1 CRT monitors. The computer-optimised bass/mid develops remarkable bass authority at realistic listening levels without distortion and the sealed cabinet permits the M20 to be sited anywhere in the studio environment. Internally, the complex multi-element crossover correctly adjusts the baffle step, balances the total spectral balance from 50Hz right through the audio band, and seamlessly blends-in the tweeter at 3kHz.

Taken together, this incredible little speaker is capable of the highest fidelity, a big sound stage and is a pleasure to work with even after extremely long listening sessions in-studio - as a true monitor should be.

"I was immediately impressed by the quality of these small speakers ... they seem to have the ability to 'see' into the acoustic more than other loudspeakers. The Monitor 20 did everything that a monitor should - speech was very natural and realistic, stereo was well located with a good central image."

Developed as a BBC studio loudspeaker, the Harbeth Monitor 30 has a well-rounded sound which is a big hit in the domestic market too.

Sharing its drive units with the reference Monitor 40.1, sonically and visually the smaller M30 disappears into the home listening room . Engineered around Harbeths RADIAL technology, the Monitor 30 achieves effortless clarity throughout the midrange with a well controlled bass that brings music to life in a wide range of listening environmenments.

Initially developed as a drop-in replacement /upgrade for the BBC LS5/9 studio monitor, the convenient proportions and well rounded sound soon led the Monitor 30 into the domestic market where it's acclaimed as the 'perfect all-rounder'.

Compared with its big brother Monitor 40.1, the cabinet is only about half the height and a quarter the volume; the Monitor 30 to sonically and visually disappears into a domestic listening room when mounted on a matching stands. Engineered around Harbeth's RADIAL technology, the Monitor 30 achieves effortless clarity throughout the midrange, with extended bass and at higher levels than the Monitor 20 - but with the same family balance as the flagship Monitor 40.1.

"They are, excuse the expression, awesome.. Harbeth have produced a line of loudspeakers that are very resolved and analytical and transparent, but also very rich. They don't exemplify the dichotomy the audio world has set up that claims that you can have transparent, resolved sound or a rich, musical speaker, but not both qualities in the same product. The Harbeth speakers put a lie to that. The Monitor 30s can anchor a hugely capable system that would be ideal for small combo jazz or classical music short of large orchestral pieces like Mahler symphonies."

This reference monitor takes the best of the original Harbeth Monitor 40 even further - a tight, dynamic and incredibly revealing presentation at a moderate listening level.

The speaker is completely transparent and paints a 3D holographic sound stage which is totally addictive for its neutrality. (View videos of the speaker's careful development in the Harbeth Research Centre.)

The flagship Harbeth was developed from the hugely respected Monitor 40 widely used in sound editing and broadcasting, and in homes around the world.

The inspiration of the design concept was the BBC LS5/5, the world's first plastic-coned three-way loudspeaker. Although originally developed for professional use in BBC control rooms, the Monitor 40/40.1 has been adopted as a domestic reference system, and where space permits brings the ultimate in natural sound to the serious home listener.

the domestic version is crafted in real wood cherry, rosewood or eucalyptus veneer, and is fitted with two binding post terminals for simplicity and ease of connection. The best possible performance is achieved in a normal domestic room when the Monitor 40.1 is used on appropriately rigid stands in a moderately damped environment and as far away from the wall as possible. The in-room smoothness of response is excellent, and in a suitable room a controlled and realistic bass response down to 25Hz is possible.

This reference monitor takes the best of the original Monitor 40 even further, and is optimised for home use - producing a tight, dynamic and incredibly revealing presentation.

Designer Alan Shaw has created a speaker which is completely transparent and paints a 3D holographic sound stage which is totally addictive for its neutrality. (View videos of the speaker's careful development in the Harbeth Research Centre.)

It's not easy to ascribe a sonic characteristic to the Monitor 40.1: nor does it have one. Perhaps the concept "three dimensional curtain of sound" says it all.
