Hello friends,

These are recordings from my system, one is played using foobar from win 10 laptop and one is played from allo usbridge signature with allo shanti. Can you make out which one is which. Both are being fed to same system with same sound and same source file. I thought to make this for people who are interested in allo products but are confused.

Thanks for looking

I heard it on my PC with my headphones.
Sounds like down mixed to mono and there is a little left bias.

The Audio Demo 2 is much cleaner.
In Audio Demo 1, bass is overpowering and pilfering into the mids.

The color difference is affecting my judgement. Listening to it on Wharfedale D225. I liked the first one better. More texture, a bit cleaner.

One sounds a bit more forward, two a bit laid back. I might end up liking two in the long run. I really don't have the ears for this. Maybe if I actually listened to it I would be able to make a better judgement.

Audio 1 = foobar from win 10 laptop

Audio 2 = allo usbridge signature with allo shanti.

ps: you will have to tell each of us how wrong we were in our sound judgement after most have commented.

Just tried with my creative sound card/headphones. Audio 2 to my ears has a better presentation with more airy and clearer mids, Audio 1 seems to carry some amount of distortion (not meaning noise, but a bit of peakiness all over which is audible especially with the voice)

Listened to it with Sennhiser HD 206 through the Zen Dac. Could not tell the difference between the two !!!

Thanks for viewing but no need to spend much time on it. It’s just a casual experiment. YouTube always compresses sound itself. its ideal to actually listen to one track once for at least 2-3 mins and then move on to next track rather than just doing any short A-B comparisons.

I was listening to it side by side 5 to 10 seconds at a time. I will try the 2 to 3 minute way just for my benefit. I love experiments like this. It shows how untrained my ears are. :)

Audio2 is through allo. Seems like everyone gets it correct even on a recording. Its clean and airy than a laptop. Allo revolutionised file computer audio for me.

With a properly optimized windows and galvanic isolation of USB and bypassing windows mixer with Wasapi or Asio, improves the background a lot. Also keeping music files on a separate hard drive (not USB) but internal (I use the internal DVD drive slot of laptop for the 2nd hard drive). Other extreme tweaks include loading the entire song to RAM disk...dont remember how (is possible in foobar and other players).

Thank you firearm12 for the demo. I have been looking for a dedicated device to play my files that I currently play using foobar2000 on my laptop (with WASAPI etc.). Can you please let me know where I can RELIABLY get this in India? And, the approximate price with all the peripherals and the software to improve sound (Allo Shanti?). A search led me to fab.to.lab, but I was a little confused because it showed components of the system. Thank you.

I got mine from fab to lab only. The final prices it will show when you checkout.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
