Hi all. Picked up this lovely Columbia 2190RM portable turntable (minus the lid) in a Japanese second hand store and it seems to be amplifying the noise of the motor. I'm guessing it's a grounding issue, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to solve it. Several cables go from the turntable and the amp's circuit board to ground. They seem intact to me. Any ideas? You can see a video here:
. Photos of ground wire attached. Thanks...

Hi
You have picked up a idler driver portable turntable . Try changing the rubber in the idler that could be a major rumbling noise .the rubber should be soft if it's hard then it's timeup for a change . Also make sure the rubbers that supports the motor is also intact so the idler pulley dosent have an imbalance which might result in a wave rotation of the platter resulting in the stylus picking up the noise .
Regards
Srinivasan
