Giving repeated hears to the below ... another Soft Rock compilation received from Kolkata yesterday ...

That's a wonderful list of rock ballads on your playlist. Exactly the kind I grew up with.

The only thing that now keeps me from listening to 80s rock is the less than stellar quality of recordings. For example, Europe sounds atrocious on both vinyl and CD though I still very much love their songs. Poison is a wee bit better but not by much. Etc. ....

I guess this is the bane of growing into a better music system. The flip side is of course the search for better recorded music. For me this is the greatest discovery and source of joy in my modest audio and musical journey. There is so much good music out there, just waiting to be discovered.

Only hope I get a fair share of music .... but, from what I gather, only weekends would be available from now onwards. Wishing Hari the very best in his venture ... to commercialize the Transmission Line speakers and also keeping it affordable for the us 'have-nots' , so we don't miss out on what the 'haves' have at their disposal .

Avid, I just got my d830's and just heard them on a Sony 909ES Class A amplifier.. I am utterly blown away!

Yet another guy, a client, flabbergasted with the SQ with the Krell volume set loud at '90' from a possible maximum of '151'. The way the sound was reverberating inside the room @ crystal clear yet smooth midrange followed up with tight clean bass ... the guy looked dazed at the end of the hear session.

Quite amazing that I do not see any further additions of this wonderful TL in here! Yes, very amazing!

Wrong thread to discus this but it's written on the first few pages of the manual itself, class A then switches to class B for high volume. It's similar to my ca840a where its class A and switches over to class B for high volume.

@ Core ...... practically, you heard it in Class B as A stays put till the first 10-15 W maximum .... 'Most' solid state amps are of this type ...

Quite possible however it is also a generalization.

Hi avidyarthy, have a cloth covering the showcase behind the speakers. Also try and have a rug between the listening position and the speakers.

Had a carpet there for some time. The dust issue in Delhi is a bit too acute, and cleaning the carpet was becoming an issue, hence did away with it. I was'nt too impressed with the slight difference in SQ, hence ......

Also, the cloth covering is not a WAF ..

Same problem here. I rolled up my very expensive but sh!t looking carpet and now planning to sell it for a pittance.

Core is bringing along his newly acquired Jamo d830 bookshelves to my place today. Would be placing them side-by-side to Hari's ATL and hearing out the numerous collections on me.

Should be an exciting Saturday afternoon.
