Hi,

Posting pictures of the prototypes, of Viren's new horns. I love the LeCleac'h HF horns. They look fantastic.Similar wooden horns cost an arm and a leg if bought abroad.

These are only prototypes . Viren says there is still a lot of work to be done on the crossover etc,but initial results are very good. The drivers are the Eminence Beta 12A2, and the Eminence PSD2002. He will be using better drivers(Radian,GPA .....)in the final version .

I am trying to convince him to build something similar to the Blumenhofer Gran Gioia. Blumenhofer use GPA/Altec based drivers.

Blumenhofer Acoustics' Gran Gioia it keeps what the names promises

Regards
Rajiv

Simply Awesome. Way to go Virenji
I cannot but help second rajivs view on the gran Gioia :)

Hi,

you may be right. top must be a full ranger and bottom a woofer.

The top is a 1 inch throat HF compression driver. It comes in from around 1000 hz . The driver at the bottom is a 12 inch woofer,it covers the range from below 1000hz.

Rajiv

The horn area actually decides the lower cut-off frequency. Also the flare angle is significant to decide the roll-off. Larger the horn lower the cut-off frequency. It behaves like a band-pass enclosure. I think because of the huge size the horns needs to be complimented with some kind of a sub-woofer for the very low frequencies. Otherwise the horn speaker cannot be practically implemented with those huge enclosures. Atleast i cannot imagine my wife allowing it in my living room. She calls the compact TL also a dabba. Imagine installing the horns:lol:

So the horn bug has finally bitten Viren :ohyeah:

When it comes to single-drivers and horns, you can run but you can't hide

They look nice...more info please

100 hrs break-in has been achieved.

Set up an available carpet. No noticeable change in SQ, so, rolled it up and put it back in the store-room. Too much of dust issues in Delhi. Dust accumulation on carpet is a pain to clean! So, the room - the carpet + the curtains - the additional junk furniture is fully operational.

Just 'heard' 70s soft rock/pop ... The Brotherhood of Man & George Baker Collection .... wow! Female vocals @ Diana Krall .... exquisite. Get the feeling that female vocal SQ reproduction is far superior to male ones.

I jushhh love old 'English' songs ... :) and these are truly pretty old. That does'nt mean I am 'that' old ... My wifey's selection from her fav music outlet in Park Street during a recent visit to Kolkata.... she seems to know the music I vie for! She is a virtual pro in English/Bengali music but HATES gadgets that we all are ever after ..

CaptRajesh (Hybd) in town today-tomrw! He called ... might visit ......
Was planning to go over to hifiashok (canasya + aristas + 21" boom) this evening ... well, can wait .. its next door. Hope he does'nt mind.

on the phone with capt. rajesh. he was trying ur no., wasn't able to get thru.

he does not seem to be abl to make it to ur place. got delayed @viren's.

Had been to hifiashok's last evening .....

Scintillating system on display :licklips::clapping: ... Cadence Canasya amp + Aristas + 21" Zephyr boom. Would try keep it short .... fantastic highs, clean, smooth mids from the Aristas and deep throbbing lows from the Zephyr. Very aesthetic set-up too. An external Xover feeding 80 Hz and below direct to the sub. The 'slam' obviously due to the Zephyr ... feel sorry for the residents below :p.

@ Hari ... no sweat ... my (sorry, your) thingy is not too much behind with slightly lower highs, slightly lesser finesse in the mids ... With pure Aristas running (if disconnected from the Zephyr boom), I think the TL 'could' beat the Aristas in the 'tight' bass section. Though, it could not be tried out as the system could only pass up the 80 Hz or below direct to the sub only. Your consolation ... the thingies viewed were @ virtually 7 times the cost of the bare-bone amp + speaker (list price) at my place! 'The Prince & the Pauper' enacted out in shhhtyle!

So, an evening well spent .... over different genres of throbbing music ... whisky ... strictly non-veg yummies .... and a wonderful host.

Would try and go over again with my collection of the 70s soft rock/pop collection, to 'see and feel' the difference to my system.

Virenji,

What a beauty! I want this animal. 1 order for me.;)

jst an input, this is a 'zypher' 'avepa' (yes, the origin IS zephyr; but wudn't wnt to 'offend' the parent).

Would try keep it short .... fantastic highs, clean, smooth mids from the Aristas and deep throbbing lows from the Zephyr. Very aesthetic set-up too. An external Xover feeding 80 Hz and below direct to the sub. The 'slam' obviously due to the Zephyr ... feel sorry for the residents below :p.

this isn't correct. there r two discreet routes; toggled (thanx to virenji, again). one is direct, raw full range to the aristas and the second, to the xover that splits betw the aristas and the avepa. and, we did hear both but maybe blender's 'blended' the two 'subtle' experiences! ;)

Your consolation ... the thingies viewed were @ virtually 7 times the cost of the bare-bone amp + speaker (list price) at my place! 'The Prince & the Pauper' enacted out in shhhtyle!

am plg to change the orientation of the setup, drastically, as i mentioned earlier. lesse if i get around to being abl to b4.

Giving repeated hears to the below ... another Soft Rock compilation received from Kolkata yesterday ... a few more days to August 1st ... after which, who knows? Same old story, I guess ... Achtung Spitfire! Mein Gott in Himmel ...

You make me feel
Amazing
Nothing else matters
July Morning
Stairway to Heaven
Without you
Is this Love
Every Rose has it's thorn
Love hurts
I will be there for you
Soldier of fortune
When the children cry
Save your life
18 & life
Another brick (1/2/3)
Are you ready for love
Temple of the king
Send me an Angel
In these arms
Love bites
When I see you smile
Carrie
Child in time
Always somewhere
Empty rooms
Love is on the way
Hang on to a dream
Still got the blues ...............

yet another set on its way ... :yahoo:

Was playing at 40% amp power and was constantly getting to hear the 'wows' from pedestrians on the lane below :).

Not sure if all the below are ballads but they would definitely be in the same play-list for me as the ones above:

Silent Lucidity
Wish you were here
Children of the sea
Africa
Eye in the sky

mp3 again!?!
