I think your diagnosis is correct. whatever file I tried all were AAC and my optical was set to RAW. I shall try out your suggestion this evening.

Yes, I did. Diplomat was correct. to play video with AAC audio I have to set SPDIF to LPCM. then AV receivers PLII option is producing perfect 5.1 surround.
DTS audio with SPDIF set to RAW is recognised by AV receiver as DTS and played accordingly. In both cases the surround is very good.
I am very HAPPY with the result.
haven't tried AC3 yet.

I have played MKv files in my ASUS Oplay mini. It played flwlessly. I played Dolby Tru HD demo file which it played without any flaw and showed as dolby TruHD in my Pioneer AVR. I just done with the two tower Speakers not with full set up.

Well i bought the Asus O!play mini player from ebay 2 weeks back with a 10% off coupon code. Its delivered and connected to TV through hdmi cable.

Now waiting for the speakers (Edifier da5000 pro) to arrive. Ordered this speakers coz they can be later used as computer speakers when i upgarde to nice HTiB...hehe

i don't have an AVR with me, so thinking of getting an old AVR for the time being and then later upgrade to a proper HTiB system with latest AVR and speakers.

havn't tried MKV yet. I tried with a demo ac3 music file, but player did not even list it,
neither in music nor in movie.

I have one question. Does Asus O!Play Mini play DivX HD files in avi or AVC-HD (*.mts)??

Codec: DivX MPEG-4 Version 5
dimension: 1920 x 1080
type: AVI video (video/x-msvideo)

and it played perfectly.

Asus mini is not playing .m4a (lossless itune) audio files.
but .m4a is supposed to be the audio part of mp4 which it plays.
can this file be played in some way?

I am planning to go either for Asus O-Play or for WD live tv..can shell out max of 5 grands.. is doubt about the service quality of WD in my city..well, courtesy, a bad experience in the past..Nyws, all i am asking for a suggestion that which one is the best VFM product that can play any format virtually i throw at it.. on the audio front it should support all the latest codecs in HD..basically that's all..and would be really oblidged if someone can point a store where from i can buy the same at the cheapest possible price!!

I will recommend kaiboer 1055+ for your use. It can play virtually any media types and you can fix an internal HDD to store your media.

I haven't bought this player. But a few of our forum members have bought this and they are happy with its performance. However they reported that the remote control is quite sluggish at times. There is a dedicated thread for Kaiboer 1055+. I'm interesting in buying a higher model most probably K360i which has inbuilt wifi.

Not getting audio when power on. I am getting the audio only when I again power off and on. Wat is the problem with this Asus Oplay HD Media Player. Latest Firmware has been installed wven after the same prob exist. I have connected with my AVR.

I saw the same problem exist for the others who uses the same player. Have u got rectified. Replies will be appreciated:clapping:
