Asus O!Play Mini with DolbyTHD decoding, DTS HD-MA for just 3500!!

I am not able to play .ac3 audio file. Anybody help me wat settings i need to to. It is not showing me the file itself.

Hello Every one iam mdharan, new to this discussion and new to hifivision!
I was also confused in buying xtremer pro or Asus O play mini , because when i purchase Xt pro i have to buy 3.5 hard disks in addition and also iam not aware of removing & fixing it in my computer to copy the media files. I have 2 external Hdisks, so iam in the mood of purchasing asus.
My main questions are 1.why asus mini is so cheaper ?
2. Will it play all contents smoothly ? 3.What are the advantages & Disadvantages of Xt pro to Asus ? 4. Will both play my downloaded DVD video_Ts files?

Kindly Help me !!!

can anyone tell me performance of Asus R2 and Asus R3 models??

To Mods: cant be this thread made as sticky ?? (Just Suggesting)

Hi All,

I am the happy owner of Asus O! Play Mini, now. I got a better deal of Rs. 3600 (with HDMI Cable inside) :licklips: thru DELTA, Chennai, yesterday.

Thanks to all on this forum for help choosing this little master.

Presently I have connected this to a Standard Sony CRT TV via analog cables. Tested some of the movie formats with sub titles, all seems nice.

I have lot of mp3 collections on my external HDD and love to listen those during the morning hours. Could you suggest me a best external speaker system to connect with this Player.

I am a noob of AV equipment, so please suggest about connecting the external speakers thru optical SPDIF out port also.

What is your budget for the speaker? You can consider good multimedia speakers from Altec Lansing, Edifier etc. For playback from spdif optical, you will need a decoder or an AVR.

Thank you for your immediate reply - baijuxavior

I think Altec or Edifier will fit into my budget. Is there any specific model ?

About AVR or decoder, Is there any decent one below < 10000 ?

Consider models like Altec Lansing MX6021, Edifier C3 etc.
You won't get AVR for that price. You will need atleast 18K for a new one. For 24K you can get Onkyo 3400 HTIB.

I am thinking of buying this player today...with ebay coupon..Can somebody confirm if it can play DTS-HD MA..ie Can it play files with names like

Bad Teacher 2011 Unrated CEE 1080p Blu-ray Remux AVC DTS-HD MA 5.1

And can it play files of size more than 30GB?

i bought asus version 1.13
when i play brrip in.mp4 with aac audio only get stereo sound if change audio setting to lpcm all speakers play same sound ,

it doesnt show ac3 files in my hard disk

pls help me how to solve this problem

You need to convert the mp4 aac file to mkv ac3. For this use mkvtoolnix first to convert the file to mkv aac. Now use Popcorn Audio Converter to convert the mkv aac file to mkv ac3. You can google for these tools.

how can i play BDMV files from my asus o play mini. i cant able open menu option and i can only play the M2Ts individual files. help me in this issue.

thanks in advance

@ btcochin Congrats for ur purchase.
You should check you firmware version and update if necessary. Read this post for latest firmware update : http://www.hifivision.com/media-streaming-players/22448-new-asus-o-play-mini-firmware-update.html

Done, thanks for the information.

The remote seems to be the worst part of this player, some times it won't catch the remote commands from a distance. It has to be kept very near to the player. (Even with a new set of batteries)

Also I have tried my external DVD writer with this player. It is working well with cds, but not with dvds.....any suggestions?

You are great. I never thought that External DVD Writer will work with this device. It might be treating it like External USB drive. and playing Media file inside the CD. I also unable to play VOB files through USB. that might be the reason you are unable to play from DVD.

Got O!play mini from Nehru Place , Delhi on 27 Jan. I was trying for Wd Tv live but unfortunately ( or fortunately ) its unavailable ( because of WD factory affected of floods ) so after careful decision purchased O!play mini. First hand experience is that its awesome. My kid liked it very much. Now my laptop and PC are free for what their intended purpose are and TV and Music system do what the do best with this media player. I have used various pen drives and external Hard disk ( both powered and non powered ) of 80GB and 500GB capacity. Though I was a bit afraid of comparing O!play mini with other devices with higher RAM ( in excess of 512mb ) as compared to paltry 128mb being offered. But then I required a simple device ( no need for wireless an NAS things, no internet steaming on media player etc ). My younger brother is into Chip desiging he advised positively and I made good decision .
It plays all available media files on my HDD except for "Hotel Californis.dts" song. So I beleive that exceptions are always there.
In short if need is for USB based media player only then this is excelent choice.
