Asus O!Play Mini with DolbyTHD decoding, DTS HD-MA for just 3500!!

Try with a different USB Drive... Or format a Pendrive with FAT32 then fill in some videos ,, then try . See if that works out.. May be the storage device is at fault..
Thanks. this was the problem with all the HDD/Pendrives. I already tried updating firmware and also downgraded to 1.14. Did factory reset also from the menu. Nothing worked. But finally i resolved this problem by doing the hard reset by pressing hard reset button at the back of the unit.

I have an asus o play mini with Realtek 1055D and i've managed to recompile the kernel to support wifi zydas usb dongles, network connectivity, mount nfs shares, etc. i've unpacked the firmware xtreamer firmware from http://www.xtreamer.net/downloads/xtrea ... mware.aspx and launched the
Dvdplayer application but i cannot figure out how to make the remote working. It's stuck in setup (language). I cannot tell if the dvdplayer is working or frozen...

# insmod /tmp/usbmounts/sda1/irfake/venus_ir_new.ko
New Venus IR driver loaded

/ # /tmp/usbmounts/sda1/irfake/irfake4 -R -f /tmp/gabi/wd/users/mos/irfake-gog/shadow_irrp.dat &
i did not reboot.....
ps : i don't have rw acces to the root fs as it's squash type and it's only 16mb ;(((

the codes of the IR captured with irfake -C are:
a05f686c right
a758686c left
a15e686c up
a35c686c down
a25d686c ok

i've downloaded the irfake from irfake - IR remote control key remapping - Google Project Hosting as the module from HD2 FW is not loading...

so far i can play sd moviez from network... but i want more ...i can provide the modified firmware...and files from sdcard.

Hi,

I have recently purchased this player (Asus Mini) and I notice the following problems-

1) When playing a video (in particular handycam shots), the audio always starts with a very noticeable lag of 2-3 seconds after the video starts. In movie rips this problem is not observed because the audio usually starts after a lag and one does not miss anything

While playing mp3 files as well, I observe the same problem. Not sure if downloading the latest firmware will solve the problem or if there are any other settings to tweak

2) The other problem (already posted in this thread) is this: the individual files never show up under "File Manager", although they are visible under Movies, Music, Photos etc.

3) When browsing a list of videos and pressing "Next" to skip to the next file (not next chapter), the audio does not always start - one has to press pause and then play once again to make the sound audible

4) I connect a WD 500gb external HDD to this player and each time I connect the HDD, the player starts to scan the files; wondering if there is any setting which will help the player to store a cache in a pre-fixed location and do only an incremental scan - rather than scanning the contents from the beginning of time  and almost (not quite) regretting if I should have purchased a player with internal HDD

5) Otherwise a pretty versatile player and plays all formats well :clapping:

6) Will check and download latest firmware and post if these problems get addressed

Does this play hdrip or bdrip more than 10GB, BD ISO without any problem?
there is one more model asus air, does anybody use this? in wireless I am currently using ps3, where it is not reading 4gb file on media server streaming. so wireless in media player is of any use for video play in network?

Where can I buy this? online? or some store in bangalore at this price?... sorry if I am repeating the same question... its almost 23 pages.. :(

Both the Asus O!Play Mini & (Mini +) models are available at certain stores in SP Road in Bangalore. Nothing to worry on warranty. It's company warranty direct.

You can get a good deal with them if you show your speaking skills!!

I'm at the moment confused if to go for Asus or HiMedia players

Is it possible to connect the Asus O!play mini via HDMI to the TV and also the optical out to my DAC, which is in turn connected to my Stereo Amp. What I am trying to do is to play a video file, however use my Amp & Speakers to play the sound rather than use the TV.

An alternative is to just connect HDMI to the TV and use the TV optical out to connect to the DAC, but would that additional hop cause a decline in SQ?

Yes I think the O Play audio settings will allow this option. Try out it should work as I believe there is an option to select optical out for audio and video over hdmi.

I have the asus oplay air and I can play the side by side 3D movies on my panny gt50. No issues. I haven't checked for 3d bluray ISOs which will require HDMI 1.4.
