'Audiophile' Diwali "Akash Kandil" (Lantern)! :D

Its Diwali Time!

And the creative juices are flowing

Every time we buy these Diwali lanterns from the market - called as "Akash Kandil". I felt the mass market chinese ones were very common and rather un inspiring so here we go..

I love custom made stuff and my family being art and craft crazy, we joined the party to make our own!

Art meets Music! (I have another thread of mine for some of the other art work - Art for Music )

I will try to post some of the photos of the process of making this!
First of all I should give a big thanks to my family members (my wife and my mom) who enthusiastically participated in making these.. and spent many many happy hours (for them that is) shopping for items to put this together

In the making..

When it comes to art and craft - time flies.. literally translates into "burning the mid night oil"

But its fun!

Nice Kandils

This reminded of my childhood days when we(kids) used to make a very big (about 5ft) STAR light before Diwali. We use to reuse the same for New Years Eve as well and between Diwali and New Year I use to hang it in my room hyeah:

MJ is already claimed by my son who secured it so that nobody touches it. It's there on his FB profile too. I have kept that gramophone waiting for framing.
