This is my first venture into a Projector setup and a dealer I know, gave me a quote of 82k final for a Benq W1200 with manufacturer warranty and bill.Is this a good model and VFM price? Is there anything better in this price range?

Plz note that the fund is extremely limited and came across this deal when I was looking for a 50 incher FHD Plasma around 70k.If this is worth it, I will extend the budget to 82k and get this and setup a screen and use my existing speakers and AVR along with it.

Imrahn,

i didn't get a quote less than 92K (inc. tax) for BenQ w1200 when i was enquiring... The lowest price was in flipkart for 92K.

BenQ W1200 model is known to have Video lag issues, so make sure you have a AV receiver with Audio delay option. Denon has this option, not sure on other brands.

Ah crap mate, thanx for the reply. I checked again after seeing your reply and it seems the price he quoted was excluding VAT. With 14.5% VAT added, it comes to 94k :mad::mad::mad:

Seeing the prices after VAT, think I will have to scrap my long cherished dream of a PJ setup for now and get a 50inch plasma for now. :( :( Damn!!

so what..a 50 inch panasonic plasma is an awsome buy.

Thanx for the quick replies mate, but I already have a 50 incher Samsung...this is for my new office-cum-residence setup and the last two days, almost thought my old dream of a PJ setup would be cherished , after getting a quote of 82k for the W1200.Anyway, if going with plasma, won't be getting those ST,GT ones, only UT50 or E550 as my original budget is 70k only.

Benq projector is not good one in quality. Benq only sells for its price its cheap but not good. Instead go for Viewsonic Pro 8200. its 7 colour wheel segment projector price 80K. If you can stretch your budget to 85k go for Epson TW3600 (50000 contrast) the best home projector at this price. Benq not a good choice for sure

Thanx a lot bro....but are u sure of the Epson 3600 pricing? coz i got 92k + tax which comes to around 1.05L for the same.

dont compromise(buying a tv) in a hurry.wait for good budget
may take import route/realative-friend bring route....

otherwise can settle down for a PJ just within your budget.

projectors are very cheap abroad compared to india .

instead of a 1080 machine can take a 720p machine....yeah off course dont compromise in colour and contrast...

from a distance of 12 ft...720p and 1080p difference very marginal..at say 120 inch screen size.
but if you plan for 180 inch or higher and always play original BR disks...1080p is for you.

Thanx mate...The problem for me with importing is the delay with fixing if something comes up unfortunately. This is for an Office-cum-HT setup, so quick service backup is a necessity. Now I could go for a decent PJ for HT and a cheap one for presentations, but I am more leaning towards combining the two budget and get a better model.

Am currently zeroing in on the Epson 6000 since it offers 3D as well.Hope thats' a good investment and won't let me down as a first time PJer.

If u have the budget for it go for the TW8000 instead of the TW6000. Diff in price is 35-40k but the diff in PQ is quite large... I no its a big step up in budget but u wont be disappointed in the quality...

Epson TW 6000 is best choice currently for full HD 3D Projector. Its the best in its price. if you need good deal mail : [email protected] Offers good price. Also if you buy TW 6000 then buy good HDMI cable 1.4 (no chinese cable) In 3D you need very good HDMI cable.

Sorry mate, I cant stretch THAAAT far, this in itself is a big stretch as far as I am concerned, going for the TW6000.Being my first PJ, it should suffice my needs.
