Beresford Caiman Review

Stan I'm sure your arrogance needs to be tamed! True Knowledge grows with sharing else it stagnates and is now showing signs.
Nothing to do with arrogance. I used to work in a company not so long ago, where my director got paid ten times more than me. But he always wanted me to do the hard work instead of doing it himself. Eventually both of us got made redundant. I believe that people should get off their xyz and spend time reading up on things, instead of relying on others to chew beforehand so that you can swallow afterwards.

Why do we need a forum then, Stanley? The whole point is to help share knowledge and help fellow members out.

If, for every question asked, knowledgeable members were to ask the questioners to get off their behind and seek out the knowledge I am not sure Hifivision would have thrived and become what it is now.

Rant apart - I would genuinely like to know what exactly is different with the Beresford DAC. And how does it compare with some of the other DACs in the market? There are no recent comparisons between the Caiman and other DACs. And a while back I was also on the lookout for differences between the Caiman and a stereo focussed soundcard like the Xonar Essence. Again, another unanswered question.

Stan

Will the Caiman work out of box with Linux distro's? I use ubuntu 9.0.4 with 2.6.28 kernel.

Thanks.

Regards

Hip Hip Hurray..! Today I received my Caiman DAC, still a virgin (not yet connected to any source:)). Everything went smooth and its so nice to do business with Stan. He also gave me an Optical cable free costing ~14pounds (Thanks Stan) on my personal request. I did not pay any customs duty and delivered to my doorstep (collected by the company technical parcel dept., so didnt have to pay any bribe also:))

Posting some initial pics. (Sorry for the crappy mobile low light photos, took from office:))

Deciding between the 7520 and the caiman ... presently leaning towards to know what all the wolfson hype is about hope its worth the investment since my reproduction chain is audionengine a5 speakers and audioengine as8 subwoofer i hope the caiman .... its basically the burr brown 1716 8x oversampling vs wolfson 8716 64x oversampling ...any views ?
