Best ever deal for loudspeaker kits.

PMed u his contact details.
Hi Ranjith,

I just spoke to him and explained him our requirement. He says that one can import even as individuals by obtaining temporary IE code but that will be for 3 or 4 speakers. It would not sound justifiable for one individual to import 20 - 30 speakers and fine would be higher. Even a company can make one time import by obtaining temp IE code and pay some 5-10K fine and customs of 26.84%. He said he would locate someone who can import for us. In the same breath, he asked if any of us has a company. I can think of only Odyssey who deals with speakers and is one of the participants.

Hi Capt

thanks for all your time and effort to get this going. I was actually afraid that the actual logistics of shipping and customs would make it all difficult and looks like its turning out that way. I don't know anything about a temporary IE code. ARN has its own IE code which it uses to import material. The problem is that the charge will end up being almost 20% higher if we route everything through any company and I will explain why -

one can collect the required amount to be paid to Danny and wire the money through a company - this is the easy part. Once the consignment comes in, the IEC (temporary or permanent) can be used to clear it. The wire transfer becomes the evidence/proof of payment for the proof of the price of the imported consignment on which duty is charged. When the material is cleared by paying the customs duty, the inventory will be on the company books. To clear it, the company can make a sale by charging an extra 14% VAT.

Actually, cargo mode (companies) has higher customs than courier mode (individuals), so the net duty will end up at around 35% to 40%.

This route will end up taking the entire price to more than 20% (14% VAT, extra duty and any company will charge at least a few % to take on all this additional burden for no profit).

by the way ARN is not my company, I don't have any stake in it whatsoever :-)

cheers

Hi

as far as the forex rates are concerned, yes they are somewhat connected to the stock markets, but is not directly correlated with such. considering the current state of affairs in the Euro zone, dollar rates are likely to stay high in the next few months (between 48-49), so its a pointless exercise to have the dollar rates decide our timing for placing the order.
in case the pallet isnt full, i think we should keep next weekend as the final deadline and then go about with the money transfers etc.
anyways cant wait for this to go through :D

cheerios!

Hi Captain

Looks like we are in a bind. Can you check with the Agent whom you are talking to whether following method is possible?

1) We individually place order with Danny with credit card
2) The agent at US treat it as individual House bills against each member and One Master bill (between Origin Agent and Destination Agent) . The shipping documentation is done in this way.
3) Once the consignment reaches India, the destination agent clears it individually by paying customs duty.

Basically it is more of a documentation effort for the Agent. As I understand, various items of customers destined for a particular destination is send together as one Master consignment by the agents and the destination agent then breaks it (Break bulk) and passes it to individual customers at the destination. This is done normally by all Freight forwarders to save on Shipping charges.

IEC code IEC code 0100000053 can be used for personal items import (not for trade). See here http://www.dgft.org/IEC_Code.html

I have all of these kits in stock. The only thing I don't have in house and in hand are the servo amps that come from Rythmik Audio, and right now he is out of stock on them. If one or two is all that is needed though I might talk him into pulling one from an assembled unit or something. I'll have to talk with him about that though. Otherwise those amps might have to ship later.

I am getting ready to head out to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest next Wednesday the 12th and won't be back until the 17th. So I really can't start packing these until after the show. That might give you guys a little more time.

If Ruben is sending flat packs to you with this same order then they will need to be sent here to me or they will just need to be a separate shipment. We will need to work that out. If it is just a few flat packs than I can add them to this pallet load. If it is a lot of flat packs and a lot of weight then they will need to go on their own pallet.

And guys, I have no problem with individual payments.

I take Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, and Paypal.

Each box (per customer) can include an invoice and I can print out your complete name and shipping info on a label to be placed on each box. I will just copy and paste whatever name and shipping info you send me onto the label for that box. So send it to me as per how it needs to be to get to you when it is stripped off of the pallet on that end.

As of now, there is a firm demand for only 4 servo amps. We can probably add one or two more and freeze that figure.

Otherwise those amps might have to ship later.

Danny, India is a very price sensitive market. Let us keep it to only one pallet as of now or else, the shipping and handling would double negating the very reason for starting this group buy.

What would be the volume and weight limit of one pallet?

I had posted a few things regarding the shipping before on this thread and I hope that now after you people have enquired for the same at your end you must have come to know that whatever I had posted
Was correct.I would like to suggest you one more thing do not and do not get the items undervalued because you ppl are importing stuff as a single shipment for the first time.
Don't take this risk the rest is up to you guys.

Hi guys I'm not referring to individual posts but addressing all issues posts here as both my office & home net connections seem to facing rough weather & hence browsing from my mob.

If the cargo is split up as individual shipments, each of them would be fined separately which would add up to quite an amount I'm told so that is ruled out. Using one IE code is the way to go it seems. I'll pay a visit to local customs office & ascertain facts myself. BTW, let us not contemplate illegal procedures; more so in public forums. RMAF has given us some more time and Danny has informed me over PM that he is ok with an extension of one week. So I suggest all interested forum members to post your requirements. Lets see how best we can accommodate you all.

Hi Olly,

We are not including finished speakers in the group buy because they would occupy quite a bit of space in the pallet. I suggest you directly interact with Danny in the other forum with regard to the possibility of including in the same pallet as ours and make your payment directly to him. If there is space available in the pallet, we can surely bring them along.
