Best ever deal for loudspeaker kits.

Okay fellows, I just got back from the RMAF show in Denver, CO. It was quite the trip. Our room was really over the top and hit the favorites list of most of the people that made it into the room. Most of the reviewers were pretty impressed as well. I expect to see some positive comments in the press coverage.

Okay, let's get this ball really rolling.

I need each of you to e-mail me these things:

1) Exactly what you want.
2) Your name and all shipping info just as you need it to appear on a label. I will copy and paste whatever you send to me to put on the label. So when the pallet is stripped each box will be clearly marked as to where it is going.
3) I need payment and can take Visa, Master Card, Discover, or American Express. Please send that info in segments over several e-mails and/or in attachments like a .txt, .doc, .jpg, or .pdf file. This is for your own protection. I can also take Paypal if you need to use that method. I can take a wire transfer too, but there is a $25 fee involved in me receiving an incoming wire. That's not a big deal on a big order, but a pretty big deal on a small one. So I don't advise a wire transfer.

My e-mail address is [email protected] and you can send a Paypal to that same address as well.

Have I told you guys how much I really love India? I buy a ton of products from India and now I am selling product to India. :)

Hope you dont mind if I interrupt!

You would need import license to bring things into India on a larger scale.

We can get in touch with logistic comps such as AFL (meet top guys) and and they would get it done in an efficient way, but we may have to wait a bit.

My US company has been importing surgical equipments to India for quite a long time and has recently been facing lot of issues due to policy changes. So, I advise that you get in touch with "real" people.

Thanks,

All the agents whom I spoke have said that an individual cannot import stuff via cargo mode but only via courier mode whereas the document I'm referring to doesn't seem to make such a distinction. Since the agents would be proficient in only what they carry out regularly, I intend to go to the customs office to find out the facts myself.

BTW, here is the link to the handbook that I was referring: India New Foreign Trade Procedure 2010, 2009 - 2014 also called New Exim Procedure.

This is the link to the same in PDF format: http://www.eximguru.com/content/exim/dgft/exim-procedures/2009-2014/exim-procedure2009-2014.pdf

Heartiest Congratulations from India.:)

Wonderful procedure. It will solve a lot of headache for the guy who opens the pallet and sorts out individual packages for dispatch. It may be a good idea to place individual invoices in each of those packages. BTW going by the last post of mine listing out the consignment, has the pallet filled?

Great idea again but the payment should also include land freight if you are shipping the pallet on FOB basis Right? BTW, I spoke to the representative of 'Kamino International' whose email communication to Peerless you have shared with us. They are obviously treating us as a new customer. Would your Peerless contact organise shipping?

You mean the payment info?

a small update ...was just talking to the guy in SIC .
1) They do clearance only if we have an IE code ...that is for companies who import ...Since we dont, he said he will try to find out from his friends who clear for private goods ...
2) I asked him in case we manage to get the invoice made on someone who has an IE code, these were the charges he was roughly telling ....
a) labour at CFS(Container freight station) - ~ 1800
b) Liner agent - DO Charges --- depends
c) Customs charges
d) their charges - ~1500 .
3) It takes generally 3 to 5 days for container to reach CFS from port once vessel is berthed.
4) There is congestion now in chennai port --- vessels are taking 1 week to get berth.

I also asked him about the custom charges ..He asked me to give details by mail . Once I get a reply, will revert.

Any updates?

hi capt, I sent a PM with a possible way - pls ask Danny if that's possible with Sumit's help.
What PM? I didn't get it.

No Venkatesh, we sure don't mind, rather we welcome it.:)

There are three issues here.

1. Picking up the pallet from Danny's place at Iowa Park, Texas and delivering at Dallas Port.

2. Picking up the pallet from Dallas Port and delivering it at Chennai Port.

3. Customs clearance at Chennai Port.

My friend who is heading the Indian operations of a shipping company is willing to do the first two tasks provided he gets a company / individual with a valid IE code does the import.

Now we need clarity on who can import.

In addition to him, I also spoke to a few shipping agents here and they all say the same thing that for importing, one would require a licence. One can import even without a licence but with a valid IE code. Then one needs to pay a fine (for importing without a licence) in addition to the customs and get the consignment.

Our point here is, we as individuals are importing in our personal capacity but are opting for a single shipment to save on freight. According to DGFT handbook individuals importing stuff for personal use need not have an IEC. So why is that these guys treating us as commercial importers?

I'm planning to visit customs office today. I think I have a contact there.

There is one thing to keep in mind here - even if each parcel is marked differently but arriving in one pallet - they will be treated as multiple shipments. While the cost of shipping itself (shipping cost / volumetric weight) will be cheaper, there is a charge for the waybill and this is per shipment. That means each individual package will have to have paperwork generated with invoices and cleared separately. When you do find out, please ask this question and see how it can be handled. Each waybill is not cheap - it can cost more than the actual cost of shipping !!

cheers

@Odyssey, thank you for the pointers. I'll inquire about them as well. I've sounded my contact regarding my requirement and he said that I'll get a call from the customs official; I'm awaiting the call.:)

@Cmsajith, that option may not work out due to the volume of goods involved.

I might can get Peerless to import this if needed. I will have to check with them.

Also, it will be much easier for one person there to cover the shipping cost from there. It will be cheaper and easier for all involved. Whoever handles it on that end might need to have a few extra bucks for reimbursement of the shipping cost and stripping and sorting.

I just now finally got a response from Sunit. Apparently there is a "Diwali - festival of lights" that has prevented him from responding to me. So we will try to have a conference about this later today.

@ Danny, we are waiting with bated breath. He appears to be our only savior.

@All, it is official, I finally got a call from my customs contact; so late courtesy the festival season. :(

Such a big consignment will be treated as a commercial cargo spare parts in electronic goods category and a 'bill of entry' has to be raised. That happens to be the cheapest way to import. If not, the cargo will be confiscated and fine will be levied which I'm told will be substantial.

I've now enticed a couple of my colleagues who are in our Officers' union to buy the kits. We being Bankers to several customers who have the IE codes some even shipping companies; our colleagues can use their clout in getting them to import on our behalf.

Hello Captain,

Can you specify how much will be the customs duty if we import it as commercial spare parts in electronic goods category? Did your contact give this information?

Thanks

Hi Baswamin,

He asked me to work out a list of items being purchased and their prices. I've just prepared the list and mailing it to him.

Regards

Rajesh

Trying to get some details worked out with Peerless.

I think I can ship this stuff for a little under a dollar a pound. That would even include cost of shipping it from here to the port. So I my be able to just charge a dollar a pound for shipping and cover all of it for you guys. That will make it real easy. For instance, a 14 pound X-LS Encore kit will be only $14 in shipping from me to whatever distination we send to.
