hmm, looks like i am late to the party !

X-LS Encore Stereo speaker pair kit @ $149, took some time to read all the posts, but i still missed on what is the projected cabinet cost?

I did not want to jump the gun so have not posted the developments in this regard. I'm in talks with an experienced speaker maker and most probably will be able to get the full cabinets made through him.

If the Peerless import works out, it would make sense that they ship the kits directly to the member. For those willing, I can get the fully ready cabinets made here and send them across via courier.

This is great news. Its good to have the cabinets made from an experienced person.

There is a shop near my house which does wood work mainly house interior / cabinets. He has big machines in his shop too. If needed we could talk to him and find out if he can do it and compare the cost. If someone who has knowledge of speakers joins me, it would be better to explain our need to him.

I'm definitely not giving up. All I'm saying is we leave the choice of selecting the cabinet maker to the individual participants. I'll make arrangements for making the cabinets and leave it at that. Whosoever is willing can join in.

I thought Danny made it clear as to what to do. He asked individual participants to transfer money to his account and send him mail giving proof of payment and consignee address which would be pasted on the individual packets. That definitely saves me a lot of head aches.

After we finalise everything, I'll give a deadline for money transfer after which, Danny would make the shipment. Simple.

In Army parlance (When I was there) an equipment's parts were categorised under heads. I'm trying to project the ones in a vehicle:

1. Essential: Examples are Engine, Tyres & tubes and the likes.
2. Necessary: Seat, lights and the likes.
3. Desirable: Doors, reading lights and the likes.

In our context, these speakers come under category 3 to most and at the most, category 2 to some.

So IMO, we can take it easy.

That is precisely I want to avoid; making scrape goats. It either goes smoothly for everyone or nothing else.
