Hey Denny,

Which servo controlled subs would you recommend for movies? ( that perform well and are reasonably priced - I have heard very good things about SVS but find them to be a little bit expensive) - my budget was about 300-400$ but can raise it a little bit if the quantum jump in quality for additional $ is good

In your opinion, how would be GR SW-12-04 + Rythmik A370PEQ for movies? and how deep/low can it go and how will it compare with SVS Subs like PB12 and SB 12 or HSU subs that are in similar price range ?

Thanks a ton for your help in advance!

Regards,
Naren

I have a good stock on our servo controlled subs and A370PEQ amps. They are the highest quality performing subs in the industry right now.

A pair of X-LS Encore and a servo sub is a great combo.

If you were to offer similar percentage discount on Super V, I will be greatly tempted to consider that instead.

It may be a good idea to PM him.

You have got to be kidding man ....If this is indeed so, I would be the happiest person :)
I'm not sure what is the basis of such skepticism but this article would hopefully allay your apprehensions.
Please add me for the Chennai made cabinets too.

Sure thing.

Guys, those who paid up can update the googlesheet with the amount paid so as to motivate others to pay up as well. The moment the magical figure of USD 10k is reached, we can request Danny to ship the consignment.

There really is no comparison. All other subs are uncontrolled by comparison. And the servo subs play flat to 20Hz and are -3db down in the teens.

Danny can you share with us the cab details at this juncture?
Will help us to branstorm about the enclosure

will also help clear my doubts if adequate bracing etc is incorporated in deign
single layer baffle or dual
etc etc
i am also experimenting with Aluminium enclosures - at least the front and rear baffles- both held togethr by aluminum brace

cab specs will help us

Links to cabinet plans have been posted in my circle on AC. If you don't find them shoot me an e-mail and I will forward them over to you.

You will be really happy. :)

Capt., Danny, this thread is 75 pages long and I just ran into it. Superb of you and Dennis to take this effort and get Indian DIYers started. I have not heard the Encore but I have heard the N2X. Superb speaker for the money Dennis!

Capt. Rajesh, what are the speakers convered in this scheme? Is it only the Encore-LS or are there other speakers (such as the AV123/X-static series) listed here?

I would be interested in any of the larger Neo3/Neo8 based kits (for Left, Right, Center and Surrrond) Dennis has done.

BTW, Dennis when GR introduced the OB7 why they did not use the 165X for the bass section was the first question that I had. 4 6-7" woofers (like the 165x or Usher 8945) would have eliminated the need for a subwoofer for everything but Home Theater and...

...talking of Home Theater why did GR not release the LS-C (I prefered to call it the CC7) as a regular product?

Navin, the group buy was primarily started to buy the X series of speakers which was being sold at a discount due to AV123 speaker company shutting shop for whom, Danny was supplying drivers, x-overs and designs but if you have noticed in the list, they are few FMs who are also buying other equipment as well.

You are free to join in so that your consignment can be shipped along with others here for a far cheaper price. As far as pricing of your choice of speakers is concerned, I suggest you take it up with Danny through PM and finalise the deal with him directly.

Thanks for the clarification. I was going nuts trying to figure what was available in this group buy. If ever Dennis puts his Neo3/Neo8 mated to his XBL woofers up in a group buy grab them. I know I would.

I also made payment for exactly the same amount as above. Now, where's the excel sheet that I must update?

@Capt: is the cabinet build at Chennai on?

@magma: did you finalise the aluminium baffle plan? I am intrigued. At least we'll have a Magico look-alike:) Please share your thoughts. Also, have you opted for the kits?

OK, found the sheet. I just updated it (incidentally I am the first to add a name).

Guys, please update the sheet. Many members who have paid but not yet updated the sheet - please update NOW. Those who haven't paid - PLEASE DO.

Remember, the magic number is $10K. Let's get this thing off the ground. My DIY amp is itching to partner the X-LS Encore:)

The googlesheet has got messed up ....All the details were there earlier but now only one name is appearing ...Captain, if u hv an offline page, u need to restore it .

Someone seems to have deleted the data.:mad: I have typed all names on it.

This is why I had protected my earlier google sheet made for Chennai hifi meet.

Yes it is. BTW, one of the forum members had given me a few more options for making the cabinet at a far cheaper cost. Apparently a pair of bookshelf speakers would cost less than 2k. I stressed on the importance of using top notch materials. Lets see how it pans out.

Come what may, the cabinet build is truly on; if the group buy materialises.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
