Dear All,

" I am reposting this thread again as I have received very limited response in another section"

I perhaps would be visiting US in Jan'16 for 6 days. Since I have Yamaha AVR 473 using happily since last almost 2 years, now it's time for me to get the speakers as was using Sony's old speakers along with it.

Now I do not have patience to go separates way hence decided on getting 5.1 package for myself. I'll be bringing them from US along with me. My budget is upto USD $500.

Now I have zeroed on below two packages:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008CMVY7Q?psc=1

Now I need your suggestions on below

1. Which one would be better between these two, energy take classic or Klisch HDT-600?
2. What is the implication/expenses on bringing it from US to India, I mean pertaining to customs?
3. What about the voltage issue?
4. Also any suggestion an Pioneer AJ SP 22BS package?:indifferent14:

Requesting your responses at the earliest.

neither.

some nice packages at India's audio video home theatre and hi-fi shopping mart

carry music from USA and things which you dont get here..

I second that, Bring the Best Source, we have decent Market (On availability and not cost) in India Now for the Systems But Source.. Its not entertained by People in India and any Albums\Movie with decent Pressing are available outside India.

Advantage:You could carry Lot number of CD's\BLU RAYS From there

1. Any specific reason you are leaning towards a package?
2. Do you listen to music in multi channel or in stereo (most music is stereo and only a handful is multichannel)?
3. Which speaker model do you have currently?

The 2 front speakers are the ones that will be used the most and makes the biggest difference. You should spend a good portion of your budget on the fronts and try not to compromise.
Hence, I'd strongly suggest that you get a good pair of fronts and build upon it. Get the matching center as recommended by the manufacturer, it makes a big difference for movies. If you are compromising somewhere, then compromise on the surrounds. It will be used less than 10% (Unlikely that you'd listen to a tonne of multi channel music).

I'd suggest you get a pair of these BS and build upon it. If your budget is tight, don't be in a hurry.
Note that, these are new and getting some terrific reviews already.

ELAC B6 Bookshelves for fronts
Elac C5 as center

This should come up to 450$. Hold on to the subwoofer for now.
Use the current sony speakers for surround, and you should have a pretty good system and for sure will be much better than what a package can give you. :)

Wonder what is the source that the OP listens to?
Online mp3? flac? HD Rips? CD's? Blu Rays?

1. Package is quite economical for me as I am on a shoe string budget hence, secondly because satellites are less space occupants, looks nice on your walls, main thing is they don't look bulky.
2. I currently have old Sony speakers which I am using since last 10 years( set of my old GNZ 9D system)
3. My usage is 70 movies and rest music, i listen to the music in stereo mode which is quite satisfying for me but I put it on 5 channel stereo on AVR's music mode which I feel gives me the best possible effect as against 2 ch stereo mode.

Components are far far cheaper in the US.
On the used market $500 will get you a B&W 603 - or you can get 2 sets of 602's and take them apart and toss the cabinets.
I don't know if you have the ability to take em apart and take the parts back.

Where in the US are you going to.

Cool.
Srinath.

Hello again,if you are on a budget get the pioneer bs22 as fronts and get Micca mb42x for rear. You can get both of them for under 200$ maybe even 150$ in USA.I already posted my opinion on your previous thread
