Hi,

I recently bought JBL E90 tower speakers. While playing low frequencies, one speaker cabinet is producing unwanted vibrating sound. When I press the side & back panels inwards, the sound goes away, but at very loud volumes, the pressure does not help. It seems that the panels are not glued together the way they should be(letting air/vibration pass thru). The cabinets are not damaged from the outside.

It there a way by which I can take out the speakers from the box and apply some glue on the inside edges, to make sure that the cabinets are air-tight.

Please advise.

Thanks & Regards,
Bhuwan

please post some images, so that some one can help.if possible remove the drivers to inspect the inside of the bracing

Hi Krell,

The speakers cabinets are in mint condition. By looking from outside, there are no signs of wear and tear. While playing them at normal levels, there is no sound of cabinet rattling. But when I pump up the volume, the cabinet starts vibrating.

Is there a gum which can be applied to the inside walls, which would ensure perfect insulation, which in turn would remove the cabinet rattling sound.

Thanks & Regards,
Bhuwan

may be the glass wool inside was loose or need to reglue.
or check the edges sealing.

It's very simple, don't you worry. Get Araldite standard (not the "Rapid" which cures in 10minutes. Then you will not have time to work around)

Open the cabinet so as to reach out to the loosened a braces inside the cabinet. Make a clear access. Also keep ready some
a weight to apply on the loose part till the adhesive cures. Now MixResin & Hardner and apply adequately in the unbraced area keep the weight and forget it for 8 hours.

You are done. You will see the Magic.

Thanks,

Balagopalan

NB: be sure not to touch the exterior of cabinet with Araldite hand them the cosmetic damage will be done.

I opened the speaker box. Below are few pics. I could see a lot of existing adhesive on the inside corners of the box. Do I need to rub it out using a sand paper before applying fresh adhesive or shall I apply fresh adhesive on the existing one. I have attached speaker pics too.
