Hi all,

I have PC based system where my Source(PC), DAC(V-DAC), Amp(CA-640A) and Speakers( MS Aviano-2 ) are closly packed together. I have a combination of Monster/MX cables for the USB/RCA interconnects. I want advice on the following things

1. Do the more experience people here have neat ideas for cable management.
2. I know its really a bad idea to wind the cable decrease clutter, how bad does it affect SQ.
3. Is it just plain better for me to make system well spaced out so that cable management takes care of itself.

Thanks
Srivats

I like to club all the power cables together and tie them up like a bundle. This tends to reduce pollution of the power line supplying the equipment.

Interconnects just hang behind the equipment away from power cables and when they have to cross the power-cables, I make them do so at right angles. I use 2 inch sized hollow plastic blocks and the cables are taped to the opposite ends passing at 90 degrees.

Speaker cables are treated the same way and kept away from all the other cables.

The commonest problem that you might come across with bad cable management (as I like to call it) is a hum/buzz in speakers if the speaker cables run next to power cables.

(Air is the best dielectric you can have for while managing the cables.)

I am also struggling with this.

Shivam and others who have this figured out, can you please share some pics. For once pictures of what lies behind all the lovely racks and stands :) Mine is a wire jungle and something i have been postponing to fix for a long long time. Your inputs will help.

thanks
Sachin

I have used cable manager from netfox, similar to Wall Mount Racks Manufacturers (2nd product in the figure). The cable manager is permanently fixed at the back of the AV rack and wires are routed. The price was around Rs.600/- per unit.

They also sell power distribution units PDU Manufacturers (Power Distribution unit), Power Distribution Manufacturers, Power Distribution unit (PDU) Manufacturers in India. I found the build quality is very good.

I bought these from their Bangalore distributor, M/s.ECAPS Computers India Pvt Ltd

They do have both netfox, netracks products.

theres a company called EBCO
his cable manager is called the vertabrae

since he is inidan based and is heavily into hardware like drawer slides ( almost his monopoly) you should find it in any good HW shop(a proper airconditioned one - not the local banya) that sells drawer slides , handles , hinges etc

if you were in mumbai i would have arranged it for you ( tell you exactly where to go and who to buy it from )
