Many of up buy AVR and other HiFi equipment from US. To use that in India, we need to buy a step down transformer.

Another way could be to change power supply in receiver itself. Given that most of brands are now present officially in India, this would be possible at various service centers.

Does anyone have some inputs on feasibility / cost of this swap? If it is less than 3k, it might make LOT of sense.

I suspect it might cost a bit more. Many years ago I brought an Onkyo CD changer from the US and changed the power supply unit, it cost me around 1500-1600,IIRC. For an AV receiver it should be a more costly affair.

Have sent emails to few service centers of Onkyo/Denon/Yamaha. Have mentioned entry-level (around $300) AVR to each manufacturer.

Will update this thread when/if I get a reply.

I wouldn't 'open up' the device and change power supply even if it was affordable.......I would rather get a very good step down Transformer .

may or may not meet factory specs. and expensive.

Yamaha/Onkyo/Denon A.S.S. should have proper OEM components. I have not opened the AVR yet, but I hope power supply is an independent unit. In that case swap should be straight-forward.

Regarding cost, have sent RFQ to all three. Lets see any any of them bother replying.

But if power supply is part of a bigger board, then yes its risky.
