Commercial Advertisement on HD Channels

Friends, I am using Tata Sky DTH and have subscribed to the HD channels also. I remember till march 2012, commercial advertisement was not shown on HD channels. As per my knowledge HD channels in DTH package was allowed in India on condition that "There won't be any Commercial Advertisement" (of course for a Premium price). But now a days I see that they have startered Commercial Advertisement on HD channels also.

Please share your view. How to raise a concern on this matter ?

oh I thought they were not showing ads as a courtesy and to promote the channels initially. Since HD penetration is so less they may also not be getting any ads.
But I hate them, and I would love to see ads go away from these channels. Show these ads where masses are watching, not to a handful users like us.

If they start showing more Ads, then the price of the channels will come down and also more people will start getting HD connections and hence more HD channels will be coming. Its not all bad really.

My understanding is that in the event based channels we do not get any advt. as per GoI. Othherwise in the 24 x7 channels adverts will come sooner or later depending on the viwership and advertisers

But what is the point in having a number of HD channels at low prices, when anyone won't be able to watch any channel due to the fact that all the comercial channels telecast Program Material and Advertisement in almost 1:1ratio. A movie of 2 hours duration takes more than 3 hours on any channel.

A HD channel without Advertisement was a premium service, just like Worldspace Radio. I wish it could have remained like that only.:sad:

After a busy day, In the eve/Night when you manage to sit for an hour before your favourate LCD, what do you want to see? Advertisement ??

Wouldn't agree more on this! All movie watching experience goes for toss on TV if we have too many ads.

i would be happy paying more with no adverstisement.. or maybe just like other countries there should be slots for advertisements so we can save some electricity over that time.

What I hate most of all are the "pop -up" cross ads, that mar the viewing of the current program.

Well talking about adverts on the HD channels. The HD channels do have a break in the programs it is quite another matter that with very few advertisers they generally tend to air their upcoming programs or regarding other channels in their stable. In India irrespective of the exclusivity even in Worldspace after 2-3 songs you had the DJ telling you about the upcoming programs, etc. Well if these information is not aired too frequently I can live with it and some sort of the advert's will appear. Adverts are a part of TV watching and have come to stay in India just like the DTH logo.

1000 bucks for a month ??? if they go beyond the current prices anymore they will be on roads with people tearing off their clothes....

govt is nuts in india for dont regulate like other places. politics is the best job all they would wanna do after they get their "seat" is to hog money..
