Hai all hi fi members please give your experience and comparison between Indian products like dnm astonia sonodyne norge and others with foreign products with their original price.

I have auditioned many foreign products and they are some what superior or inferior to Indian products.I compared wharfedale yamaha monitor audio mission and so and so with sonodyne speakers.
when I auditioned sous 2605 with wharf towers they sound superior to the price.but wharf have thier own plus points which is not a big bang, its only a lil difference in some tracks.
I own sonodyne 1501 c2401 and roarr 210 with denond 1612
i HAVE AUDITIONED ENERGY TAKE CLASSIC PI0NEER SP PK 51BS,ENERGY RC MICRO BOSTON SOUND WARE KLIPSCH HD 500 AND LOTS MORE.BUT MY poor sous beaten all of them.
please mention your expeience with several products and please compare it with Indian products.

I did visit Sonodyne's Listening Room at South City Mall, Kolkata about a week ago. Wanted to hear Sonodyne's range during the time I was looking around for hi-fi purchases 2 years ago, but could'nt find one in New Delhi. The outlet in Delhi turned out to be more an office and more like a promo-point for their Studio ranges. Hence, had to look at 'imported' that time.

Had a decent listen to the Sonus 2605 FS coupled to their 320 integrated amp (100W @ 4 ohms). Have to say, was awestruck! Very crisp, clean and clear SQ. Just the way I like it .... slightly bright, musical and non-fatiguing. If I start comparing now, it would easily beat the equivalent (size-wise) Wharf FS as well as the Bronze series of MA. Have'nt heard the MA Gold, so can't comment on that.

2605 @ 29K and 320 @ 16K as quoted at the Sonodyne outlet is indeed very VFM. The speaker finish is classy and available on 2 veneer shades ... Walnut and Cherry. The Cherry veneer one looks better. The 320 amp is also slickly done with a deep black powder coat on it, and close-fitting knobs and switches.

Had these been available during my hunt undertaken 2 years ago, I would definitely be possessing them today for sure.

I completely agree. I own an eclectic collection of speakers including Sonodyne. Sonodyne hold its own as against the rest.:)

thank you for sharing your experience:)

I compared Sonus 2605 against JAMO 606,KLIPSCH F1,PSB,ELAC,YAMAHA.
The SONUS beat them clean even when played from a DVD player, while others were played on a dedicated CD player.
Guys, if anyone is fancied by their 320 amp, then you would go head over heels if you got a chance to listen to their discontinued PRE-POWER amp combo.
Just started earning those days. When I got the bucks to grab one, it was no more. I think we should appeal to them over FB to remanufacture the combo.

I've just picked up a Pre Power combo of Acoustic Portrait from a forum member and all I can say is that I am stunned at these amps. If you are looking for a serious hi fidelity system then AP would be a great place to start. The products do not have many of the "convenience" features of many regular brands but these are by design to ensure the most simple path for your signal. If you can appreciate this aspect of the products then I would highly recommend Acoustic Portrait.

I have been hearing the Sonodyne name here and there (often here!) and just looked at their site. They have a very interesting range of products. I noticed one of the studio monitors being praised on another thread today. Why-oh-why, though, can't they include MRP on the site? No, I do not want to fill in a form just to find out how much something costs. How many casual browsers could turn into customers without this? It is an unhelpful and intrusive business practice that they could reconsider.

^ Bongolis are very poor at marketing! Sonodyne's owner is a Bengali and still sticks to the age-old and outdated formula of word-of-mouth. A huge section of newbies, who otherwise would lap up the product range is lost out on.

I had bought the Sonodyne Sonus 2605 towers for home audition for a weeks time, i have spent about 3 days doing all sorts of things :ohyeah: Also have borrowed my Brother Mission M35i speakers....

But so far, i would say Sonodyne Sonus 2605 is an Allrounder when compared to Mission M35i which get excited with very little to heavy bass tracks.

Sonodyne 2605 has a very good presentation when Bi-Amped.. Bi-Amping is done using Sonodyne SPA 202 (Discontinued - Stereo Power amplifier)

I will post a detailed review after i spend more time (By this weekend)......:)

I'll tell you everything about my product except the price. For that, you have to come into the back room, close the door, and sign a non-disclosure agreement...

Guys. is it a cultural thing? I'm sure it is more widespread than W Bengal. I see pages of small ads for second-hand cars in my newspapers, and not one of them mentions the expected price. In my mother country, all such ads would, simply, be ignored!

I would say Sonodyne are very poor marketers.......

How many Forum members here actually know that there is an indian brand called Sonodyne for Hi-fi/HomeTheater product ?

For the price advantage they have over the competitors, they can bloody shake the competition.....

Any person who buys a foreign Hi-Fi product is an oppurtunity lost for Indian manufacturer (Sonodyne)

Juz remember what Bajaj did with Honda in two wheeler segment....

A few months ago, an Indian maker of pro (PA) amps was mentioned in an overseas-exhibition thread. I think it was said there that, although made for the PA market, they would give hifi at lesser cost than "hihfi".

Anyone remember?

I liked DNM hifi system which was played in last years Mumbai meet.Nothing short of a good budget hifi.VFM product.

I am using sonodyne products.I will say its a product that add value and performance. But its not a product that is extra ordinary.
I found many reviews of sm100ak studio monitors and they are saying its wonderfull thunder and so and so.
We are using genelec studio monitors in our studio.I will say the genelecs are far better than sonodyne for judgement for true sound.but Judgement in audio mixing is a connection between audio engineers mind and charactor of studio monitor.
But for the money sm100ak is an amazing piece.
rolls royce is the car but bmw ferrari mecedes bently porsche are also cars.

Ha ha ha, well said. :clapping:

Whatever be the case, I believe, buyers too are to be blamed for NOT going ahead with a good purchase no matter how bad the 'selling service' or marketing is of the seller. Blame it on the so-called buyer behaviour which for some period is governed by individual ego.

Sales methodology, like any other industry function does'nt come on its own. An intricate training on the sales procedures have to be imparted, and, its different for different people depending on the individual's standing in society. How many are trained accordingly? Only a lucky handful, I bet.

A buyer inadvertently takes 'only' the service imparted to him when he is on a buying trip. The slightest of indifference shown by a seller goes against the buy decision of the product .... period! Now, who is at a bigger loss? THE BUYER OF COURSE. Just because of 'the buyer ego', one has lost out on a real wonderful buy?!
