Hi all

I am in a bit of a tricky situation wrt to my current audio setup. Like many of you, I ordered Echo Dot. Problem is I cant figure out a way to connect it to my speakers- Swans M200mkII. Swans are connected to my PC using a Asus Xonar STX card. There is no aux input on Swans. I have tried searching for splitters/ connectors but havent had any luck. I searched the forum couple of weeks back thinking surely there would be people here with the same problem but no luck and hence no solution so far.

So do you guys have any suggestions? What I want is Swans to be connected to both my PC (via Xonar card output) and to Echo Dot (via 3.5mm aux output) at the same time. I intend to use it for Echo dot music playback when PC is not in use. Is there any splitter/ connector which can accomplish this?

It has 2 analog inputs... so any 3.5mm to RCA cable will work.

Get a good quality one from BlueRigger or AmazonBasics.

It doesn't have 2 inputs. Only 1 RCA input.

This is what the back of the speaker looks like.

You probably need following
1. 3.5mm to rca cable X 1
2. Two double rca to 1 switch (two rca inputs to 1 rca output) X 1
3. Rca to rca cable X 1
4. Existing cable you use with pc that has rca on other end

This will allow you to use pc or echo dot without having to change or switch cables.

In place of 2 & 3 above you can use something like below. Can't comment on audio quality degradation if any due to all this.

Thank you! This is what I was looking for! Two rca to 1 switch (two rca inputs to 1 rca output) X 1. I was not able to search correctly for this. Splitter/ connectors were giving spurious results. Something like this (https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Switcher-Composite-Selector-Players/dp/B01MRPATRW) should work, theoretically. But this is amazon.com.

In Indian sites, I found 2 options which don't look too tacky.

https://www.amazon.in/JMA-Audio-Video-Splitter-Output/dp/B00JOO4EFU

They are both 4x RCA in to 1 RCA out. If I don't find 2 RCA input option, I'll buy either of these 2.

One last question: Will the sound quality be affected too much if I use a splitter like this? I LOVE my Swans and their sound. I would not want to compromise on the sound I get form my PC.

Hello,

Can you not connect the Echo via the 3.5 to the input of your xonar card ?

Holy crap! Xonar card has 3.5 mm input? I dind't know that! Will check.

EDIT: Even if there is a 3.5mm input, there is still a problem with this. I will need to have my PC on 24x7. So don't want this.

For Bluetooth adapter go with Logitech. And it works with all BT devices including Echo, but needs to be plugged into any amp with inputs.

Well, that complicates things. I don't have any anmps and don't intend to buy additional stuff as well.

For now, I have ordered this: https://www.tomtop.com/p-v1844.html...bfGCqyQOIP3pgI70stM4UJOf-LAeD1AwaAqsPEALw_wcB. Also ordered RCA to RCA and 3.5mm to RCA cables.

Will keep you guys posted on the result.

Thanks much for all your help and advice.

Well, 'amp' in your case means the amp in your active speakers. As it has only one set of RCA input, to connect bluetooth adapter, you have to sacrifice the PC input (means switching inputs manually every time). So only option is one of the switchers. The one you have ordered will also work fine.

I also found this. https://proaudiohome.com/p/signature-acoustics-robin-bluetooth-transmitter-and-receiver/itemNTQ3/ Around 2300 INR. Has anybody tried this? Will this work? Can I connect my speakers to Echo Dot using bluetooth.

The Robin bluetooth adapter can be switched to work either as a transmitter / receiver. You should therefore be able to use your Echo as a bluetooth source and the Robin as the bluetooth sink (i.e.) in Rx mode. From the Robin, you would use the AUX out with an AUX to RCA adapter cable to connect to your speakers. I have the Robin and an Echo Dot so let me see if I can try and recreate this setup and let you know if it works.

The Robin supposedly can connect to two bluetooth sources simultaneously, so if you have a bluetooth source on your PC, then in theory, you should be able to connect the Robin to both the PC and the Echo.

Aah I see. I hope the switch I have ordered works well.

Sure. Though I have already ordered a switch for now, please do report your findings. Might be useful for other people who find themselves in a similar situation.
