Most of my mp3 collection of old songs (60s and 70s) are 128kbps. I wonder, if i manage to feed the audio output of DTH to Xonar STX, i would be able to record the songs in higher bitrate..What i wonder is, will that guarantee an improvement in quality? My DTH is 2 rooms away. I need to put quite an effort to get the cables all the way to my monstrous PC. Hence wondering if anyone of you guys have tried it?

dth uses digital music, will convert it to analog, you will feed that to pc, will convert to digital. Theoretically, at the best, you will be able to get the quality of the digital music coming to your dth. practically, it will be worse than that.

You can get a card that takes optical inputs, will give better quality by avoiding multiple conversions.

yeah..doing the DAC twice is a concern. My DTH isn't HD. I am left with analog out only. And my stx can take analog input only. My question is, will the output from DTH will be close to CD quality if not equal?
