Custom Build TL FS speakers for Francis

How about the crossovers, was it custom built? ....Am sure Hari would have built it based on formulas :)

Yes, cross-overs has to be custom build for the drivers and enclosure. Also tweaking is required after objective and subjective listening to fine-tune.

I think look wise Avid's speaker looked better, but then the design was different too ain't it?

On a different note, is these Kevlar drivers good to use purely as a mid driver?

to each his own sumanta.. i prefer the conventional looking speakers with a flat top..

Even if used as mid-driver, i will prefer it to be crossed around 2.3KHz and not more if used with a first order filter.

Hari Sir,

I desperately need your help here:

I have wasted a lot of unnecessary money purchasing the following stuff:

Item 1 - Dayton Audio RS225-4 8" Reference Woofer 4 Ohm 295-376

Item 2 - The Madisound Speaker Store

The cross over is similar to the following but earlier they had one 4 ohm version - The Madisound Speaker Store

All this was brought through borderlinx which charged me much more than normal. I am suspecting that the individual components are not very compatible with each other and some devine guidance ( From Hari Sir !!) will show me the path of enlightenment by giving me correct crossover design !!

I have also built two towers to house this combination. The inside dimensions are 255mm (W) X 310mm (D) X 1200mm (H). Plus it has a 5 inch hole in the front at the bottom for fixing a port tube. Entire box is made of 3/4" plywood of good grade and one baffle in between Tweeter & Woofer.

Hari Sir, i desperately need u to tell me what best can be achieved with this. Actually i am trying all this for the first time and expect/wish to experience something good in order to carry on and cultivate DIY practice. In fact some FMs are helping me in my Amp project. You can see the details here :

Thanks a zillion in advance for your support and guidance.

The Kryptons have arrived home some days back.. and there is only one thing to say - I AM LOVING IT !!!:yahoo:

Hari has done an excellent job, Wow what sound.. no words to express. You need to hear them to believe my words.

The Treble- Crisp & sweet. The Wavecor balanced tweeters are really good:) No distortion in the highs, very smooth.

The Mids:- The vocals are dead centre. The singer appears sitting right in front of you.Very clear & poweful.

The Bass:- What I love. The drums play dead centre. The bass drum hits you in the Chest. No boom.Real tight & low.According to his specs they can play as low as 19Hz! Now that's very low:licklips:

That's a short review as I am running back to hear some more music:lol:

Build a Custom TL FS speaker for Francis, the details below,

Woofer: Peerless 6.5" Kevlar cone
Tweeter: Wavecor Balanced Driver 1" Silk Dome
Enclosure: Linear Transmission Line
Freq Response (Calculated) -6dB ---> 19Hz to 25KHz
SPL - 92dB / W / M

Here goes the images,

Nice speakers.

have you tried playing around with their position..they look too close to the corners ?

Keeping room aesthetics and ease of moving around in the picture, would it be possible for you to draw up the speakers by @ 3' to 4' from the front wall and hold them @ 6' to 8' from each other?

What would be the length of the room? Can't make out from the pics.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
