Denon 1612 AVR + which Speakers ?

Polks go well with Denon. Polk RM705 is a good choice. Price is around 29K. Also visit hifimart. A few options from wharfedale and jamo are available with Denon AVR bundled.

polks, jamo, wharfedale, boston acoustics, etc........all are good. You will find it all there on hifimart.

Denon 1612 is 120 watts per channel , so speakers should support those watts ?right .and subwoofer also.

No problem in using a lower watt speaker. Make sure that the speakers are rated at 6 ohms or 8 ohms. 4 ohms speakers can cause problems like overheating which may damage your amp and speaker.

Hi,

but some company speakers not providing how much ohms is supporting.and what is the meaning of , denon 1612 is supporting of 6 ohms and 8 ohms ?

Every speaker manufacturers specify the impedance of the speaker in ohms. Common values are 6 ohms and 8 ohms. Denon 1612 supports 6 ohms and above. You can connect a 4 ohms speaker to it but it will draw more current from the amp which the power supply unit of the avr may not be able to handle. If using 4 ohms speakers then do not increase the volume above a safe limit.

Where did you get this information from? It is wrong. Look at the specs part.

The Denon 1612 delivers 75 watts per channel, 2 channels driven. If you drive all channels you will get around 60 watts per channel. You should preferably use satellite/sub combination. I have seen the 1612 gasping for breath regularly with large speakers.

Cheers

I think your quotation above is incorrect.

Denon 1612 delivers 120 Watt per channel at 6 Ohm. It delivers 75 Watt per channel at 8 Ohm. Please see this in manual. You can find it in USA Denon site.

Equal Power Amp Design: Each of the AVR-1612's five 120-watt channels is powered by its own discrete circuit. This allows the receiver to reproduce original sound more faithfully than conventional models, which use integrated circuits.

The specifications of the avr are true, but see the Denon PSU is rated at 450W I think. Then if all the channels are driven together at 120W it would consume 600W which you know is against the laws of physics as you can't produce 600W from 400W source.

There is no 1:1 mapping between electrical power vs. amplifier power. There is more than this. There are many article on web. Please check.

Me too having a Denon 1612 but cannot decide the speakers. How about JBL 25C as center speaker and JBL eS30 as front and surrounds? Any Ideas? 1612 supports these speakers without any issue?

I was using 1610 (which is almost similar to 1612) with Wharfedale 9.2 until recently (i upgraded to 2312CI). when I was picking up the speakers..i had to find the right balance between speaker size and the power limitation of 1610. I found 9.2 to be just the right match for my taste. It had enough detail and bass and went well with 1610.
