Denon 1612 AVR + which Speakers ?

Denon 1612 is an entry level AVR with latest HD audio, 3D and ARC support. It has a USB port for music playback from ipod or pendrives. On the connectivity side there are 4 HDMI, one optical, one coaxial and a couple of AV inputs. The analog signals are not upconverted to HDMI, which is not a problem for me as all my devices have hdmi out. There is pre-out for surround back to make it 7.1 by adding a stereo amp. It has Audessey Multeq auto calibration which is very useful for calibrating speakers.

I'm using Magnat Interior 5001 speaker system which is a german brand and imported from amazon.de. The total price for speakers is just 19K. Remember the lower model magnat 501a is priced 30K in technoguru. The sound quality is very good and surround effects are spot-on. The subwoofer gives the occasional thump you will require during movies. It used to rattle when I first connected the speakers. But after a few days of use, the rattling has stopped. The satellite speakers are small but attractive and produces crisp sound. Overall it is very good for movies and OK for music. The only field where I'm not satisfied is the bass performance of the subwoofer. I need more bass:licklips::licklips:.

Thanks for giving your valuable information baijuxavior.which speakers you can suggest for me(Denon 1612 AVR).

Hi Baijuxavior & team,
First of all I would like to thank the forum members who had been answering with utmost patience to the questions and helping new members like me to buy a good HT. :signthankspin:

I have been a more of a silent spectator of the HT threads, had been grasping the discussions and changed my decision to buy Yamaha 521 to Denon 1612.

I got 1612 delivered from Amazon US on Thursday. Speakers are the ones which is haunting me now, which is not so easy to decide.

My need is 70% movies - 30% music. Initially I decided on Polk Audio TSi series(TSI300+CS10+TSI100+PSW110) which comes close to 60K(Given as a package in HTStore). But after reading Venkat's reply saying that Denon 1612 would not be able to deliver more than 400 Watts altogther, I felt it would not make justice to invest so much on Speakers, when their total capability is not utilized. The TSi300 itself is 20-150 watts per channel.

So I am going back one step, even before settling down for 5.1 Satelite speakers included package like Polk RM Audio or Magnat Interior 5001 or Polk Audio TL2600(Blackstone). Should I consider the Bookshelf speakers as a front ones instead of floor standing?

My room is also quite small 11X15, and I don't have any intention of been thrown out of the neighborhood.

The reason I am asking is I am changing my Home Theater from Sony HTB(which is not so bad compared to the price I paid) which was bought in 2004 and is still serving me with loyalty :-), so don't want to commit the same mistake I did 8 yrs ago.

I ordered on June end, the price was $199, shipping was $76 and import duty was $73, altogether it came around $348 which was around 20.5K for me.
Please note: it is still a 110V system, you need a step down transformer for it.
[now the US site also has hiked the price to $261 ]

I did check the price in Amazon.de prior to ordering, but the base price was 345 euros which was too expensive compared to US.

Not justified. June end $ price was Rs. 58. If you have searched around you could have got it in India for 24K 220V version with one year warranty.

Boston acoustics soundware xs is available in hfv mart for 23.9k. It should be a great combination for Denon.
