Denon x2800h from AVshack or Profx

Hi all,
Planning to buy x2800h but prefer to buy from Profx shop bangalore. I'm expecting >=35% discount. Mrp i think is 144900/-. But AVshack online is around 67k. Is AVshack reliable and hope they don't sell refurbished piece and a brand new piece The price is very good online but have anyone purchased online and recommended AVshack.in and I hope warranty is applicable. Suggestionswill be really appreciated. tIA

Hi,

Seen you have already received valuable suggestions from the other FMs.

Adding my views / suggestions -

  • No AVR will last you forever as they are not really built like the ones we used to get in the late 90s. Most are made in China.
  • A typical AVR last 3-5 years if use in the proper manner. Anything beyond 5 yrs is a miracle.
  • Most of us keep upgrading where possible after 3 -4 years infact even look for pre owned ones as its cheaper.
  • GST Bill and official warranty is very important. Ensure this is there before closing any new AVR purchase deal.
  • The Cinema 70 (Formerly the NR1711 or older NR series) is only 50 watts continuous per channel 8 ohms. Can drive most speakers easily but will run hot when using power hungry speakers for a longer period. As per my understanding the Cinema 70 has pre outs so you can add a power amp if needed. All depends for how long you will run the AVR for daily / weekly use. The Cinema 60 has more power and next level Audyssey setup.
  • All AVRs will run warm / hot and its good to invest in AC Infinity (Available on Amazon etc.) in order to cool the AVR irrespective of the brand / model.
  • Personally, I am a Marantz user since last 12+ years. Been using from NR1402 and upgraded with time. Currently using the SR6015. No issues works well with most speaker brands and blends well. It is better to audition in person and decide.
All the best!

There is nothing in AVR world which I have seen last for 10 yrs. My pioneer Lx302 is now 8 yrs old but after 2 repairs. I bought an AVR from Ooberpad last year- Denon 3800. They deal with Preeti which offers better prices. Profx was as usual offering atrocious pricing. If you want pre outs and Dirac upgradability look for min Denon 3800.
Kind of decided to go with x3800h for future upgrade for adding external amplifier as it supports preout(will buy used ones) or maybe try dirac, etc. In parallel plan to buy swivel brackets and speakers stand and wires and plugs as I wanted to redo the setup. Need recommendations on speakers wires and plugs. 16 guage would be best for 8ohms speakers as it can go ru n upto 40+ feet max? and found most of these accessories in Amazon. Any brand recommendations for these accessories mentioned above?

Amazon is fine. These wires run typically long so getting a decent gauge is enough.

While you are in the "kind of" phase, its worth looking for the NAD T758. Won't have the bells and whistles of the Denon but will surely drive your speakers way better. Call up the Distributor based out of Singapore and get a quote. Finding a place to listen may be a challenge.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
