Digital Robbery,,,, let's stop it

If it is possible by some firmware update than not providing it is a really a serious crime,,, they r not doing it bcoz they treat us all like fools,,, every year they try to improve sales by introducing some new features which r not new basically,,,, it's just some improvements,,, but they name it as new feature kind of,,,, like watts as pmpo,,, 2k as 4k,,,,etc,,,immetured teens buy them without knowledge and brands target for them only,,,, 90% ppl buy without knowledge,,, so hope someone ( may be me :D ) start a brand with genuine specs and maintain upto date firmware and improvements without any bogus, lies as showing new features per another new year,,, till then it's all DIGITAL Robbery

Its part of the capital system we all live in and enjoy the benefits of. Some do it more than others. best way to fight is to discourage sales but that is very hard in real world (think of all the 3D and curved LED TVs that were sold).

Bottom line is if you feel you got your money's worth, whatever that amount might be, you are ahead of the curve...

Adding to this outrage is Planned obsolescence.

Dont you feel the electronics of today fail abruptly in just a few years of purchase.

Many a times the failure is so pricise to coninside with the warranty period completion. The TVs bought in early 80s are still functional and I have encountered many threads in forum where just few years old expensive models failed abruptly.

Im not crying conspiracy or something but in corporate world Planned obsolescence is a reality.

This cant be generalized and really depends on the manufacturer. SVS and Emotiva offer 5 years warranty (Emo has 3 yrs for the BasX line) and B&W offers 2-5 years and there is Bryston which still offers a transferable 20 yr warranty on all its products!

Another trend is including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X in 4K/UHD discs of the movies and excluding them from Blu-ray release of the same movie, even though Blu-ray can have those sound formats as well. They force people to buy 4K/UHD discs to get Atmos and DTS:X.

4K receivers are not costly, but 4K projectors are very costly now. We also need 4K Players, cables etc.
