do you think that alcohol ......

@Suri
The Prawns in Whisky recipe is quite simple and sensible. Will try it out and post review soon. The % of Chandigarh's population who buy prawns is .00000001,therefore you only get t-i-n-y frozen prawns from a brand called Sumeru.Chandigarh is hard core chicken country.Inexplicably, even fish (mostly stale) is only available and consumed for about four months from November to Feb,and then also as 'fish fry',a funny concoction which tastes more like an 'aloo pakora' (which Punjabi's love) and very little like fish.

Incidentally, since you have been avidly following the 'Trinitas' auction, there are two more Indian angles to the auction-the two buyers are Mr.Mahesh Patel(real estate,US) and Mr.Sukhinder Singh(leading whiskey specialist,UK).
Tasting Notes of the Trinitas say that it offers "lingering sensation of vino dulce muscatel, treacle toffee, soft liquorice and roasted coffee".
The buyers are welcome to drink (although they won't,since it's supposed to be an 'investment') their 64 year old blended:eek: whisky.I'll stick to my 12/16 year old (Dubai Duty Free) Bruichladdich or Lagavulin.
I wonder how the Tasting Notes of our local produce would run? "lingering sensations of kerosene, acid, rotten eggs and burnt toast"
Jokes aside. In a few years time,as awareness grows,we will begin producing decent wine, beer, whisky in India.White & Mackay will not be the last Scottish/French acquisition by an Indian company
The West is the the Best. For now.One day soon it will be The BRIC IS CHIC!

aha!-

now i know-

why the women in north india are always on the edge-

and why women in (the coastal) regions of south india are so confident - satisfied - because of "la petit mort"?

ajay124 - you have forgotten the role that genes play -

across all forms of life - humans, animals, plants, fungi and saprophytes-

and it is the environment that modifies the behavior and output of these-

let me put it to you -

that -

for products (and things materiel) - for exciting automation (for example -
iRobot Corporation: Home Page)

"YOU CANNOT TOUCH THAT"!!:)

- equate that to - the practical american mind that tells itself no lies - and (which) has no equal.

for Wine - the french. (the soil is unspoiled and incomparable)

for exotic automobiles (that are works of art) - these are the preserve of italians.

for the best whiskies - the land of the scots -

( and for the blasted mis-begotten russians - those stupid vodkas are nuthin but - mild industrial alcohol!)

and here -

i posit -

that INDIA and indians cannot do nuthin - - cannot produce (poetry-inducing delicate alcohol) -

and that we can support the entire world with god-men, IT support, outsourcing, and a huge populace flush with money - ready to buy what the world puts up for sale.

but the real thing -

the delicacy of the wine - the singular taste of that (single) whiskey-

well , the provenance of such things cannot change-

and for us -

we, singular indians -

what defines us?:)

Yeah! That includes 'single' distilleries and Appellation d'origine Controlee Vineyards. The French were horrified when Mr.Mittal bought Arcelor. The British didn't seem to have a problem when they said TATA to Corus and Jaguar. But if the Euro keeps sliding, plenty of those vineyards and chateaus would come up on the market. And with the way real estate is zooming, selling a house in Mumbai,Delhi,Bangalore,Chennai,Kannur* may fetch you a Chateau complete with a cellar full of 'The Best of Bourgogne and Bordeaux'.
*If that happens will your Witches accompany you?
Or will you build a new pair of Femme d'Allure Diabolique's when you get there:)

i have asked my wife to prepare a "burial chamber" for me -

here -

i will be interred (after rigor mortis has stiffened me nicely) - in a seated position - with the "witches" at the correct position in front of me.

but, of course, ajay124 - if i were to relocate to southern france - i would take the "witches" with me-

inseparables!

So you expect your Witches to outlast you? That shows even more confidence in your creation than Bryston with it's 20 year warranty:)
And the music playing when you are in the 'correct' position?
This is the End
My only friend
The End....

OOPS! -ajay124 - that is a thought!

i will need to have an (audiophile grade) electricity outlet in the burial chamber.

and yes! - very appropriate that the incomparable jim morrison sings while i find my way to the Elysian fields-

just a thought - i could ask for a video (audio-capable) web camera with continuous broadcast - so that a person writing a thesis on

"subterranean decomposition of the (dead) human body - visual indicators on the time scale" -

might benefit.

But of course then it should be 'audiophile grade':eek:hyeah:
Plus figure a way out to keep the music playing continously so that the 'audio effects' on decomposition are well & truly recorded for good posterity;)

i think GeorgeO should be able to help - perhaps, a 2 terabyte hard disk serving up (loss-less) music in continuous loop - should see me rot down to the bone -

even to dust - if the hardware is not japanese or korean - or god forbid - made by those yellow mongols!:)

and denom - do you know how to send digital data to heaven ?

quite simple really -

place the data (photos of my decomposing body) in your trash-

rename your trash box as - HEAVEN

and hit the delete button - sure as hell, the data will reach me!

(the morbid nature of the way this thread is heading- and the way i might lead it - should not excite the "concerned" - after all - i am only killing myself!)

Rock is part of my 'walk on the wild side' years from the age of 15-25.And how can you forget your youth? For three years in Simla,I had a room which jutted out of a hillside. It was balanced on two poles of wood from the front. On windy nights, the room shook and shivered. In the monsoons, rain hammered on the tin roof and clouds rolled in through the window.Monkeys too!In the winters, the front door jammed because there was 2 feet of snow outside.I was never short of booze or cigarettes, though I starved quite often. One famous weekend I went without food for 48 hours! No money and unfortunately no one to borrow from.A Panasonic stereo cassette player.French,Russian and American classic fiction,Dostoevsky,Tolstoy,Chekhov,Gogol,Turgenev, Flaubert,Stendhal,Camus,Sartre,Faulkner,Hemingway, Fitzgerald,Melville,Hawthorne...and my 'inspiration' in those days,Thus Spoke Zarathustra!A long procession of friends. There must have been something like a hundred people or more who passed through that room in 3 years. And the music.Dylan,Young,Hendrix,Clapton,Lennon,Marley,Cohen,Stevie Ray,Cale,Mayall,Frampton,Cream,Traffic,Steely Dan,Grateful Dead,Dire Straits,Floyd,Eagles,Doors,Who,Led Zep,Deep Purple,Rolling Stones,Beatles,Jethro Tull,Santana,Allman Brothers,Velvet Underground,Talking Heads,CSNY,Moody Blues,Ten Years After,King Crimson,Uriah Heep,Simon & Garfunkel,Bread,America,Joan Baez,Joni Mitchell....and more. How could I ever forget all that:)
Some of my favorite songs from those times
YouTube - Neil Young - My my, hey hey + lyrics
YouTube - Bob Dylan, Mr Tambourine Man
YouTube - Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die
YouTube - Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower - ORIGINAL MUSIC VIDEO
YouTube - Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love [Making Movies, 1980]
*Discovered Phil Ochs only a couple of years ago.Now I feel he was the best singer/songwriter/musician of his generation.

Dedicated last nights music session to 'nostalgia' music.Accompanied by a couple of chilled 'Saigon' beers (Lager from Vietnam.Very nice.70/-330CL.),I dug out a few CD's I had not played at all or much,on my current set up.I have been able to 'tame' the bass to the way I like it,tight, deep and musical and rock sounded better than ever.Earlier I used to feel that the Vienna Acoustic's are too refined for Rock.No more! The Bryston's have lit a fire in their belly --Rust Never Sleeps,Communique,Dylan's Biograph,Santana Essentials,Van Morrison's Still On Top....stunning SQ!I think my set up will remain unchanged for a long time to come.
Leonard Cohen Essentials disc 2 sounded especially amazing!
Ain't No Cure for Love
Take This Waltz
First We Take Manhattan
Dance Me to the End of Love
The Future
Democracy
Waiting for the Miracle
Closing Time
Anthem
In My Secret Life
Alexandra Leaving
A Thousand Kisses Deep
Love Itself
And with Suzanne,Chelsea Hotel,Famous Blue Raincoat,Hallelujah,Everybody Knows,Tower Of Song,I'm Your Man on disc 1...This 2CD Cohen set is a real winner.Biograph has most of my favorite Dylan's and in their best version's.
