Most of us are familiar with Dynaudio drivers.
Quite impressive in built quality and performance. Built around in house customized parts with innovative magnet design's and oversized voice coils have great reputation in the Loudspeaker industry. But unfortunately there is no replacement recone parts available for Dynaudio speakers.. If anything goes wrong ... they insist for driver replacement after warranty. There is no aftermarket recone kit out there for these drivers. The only aftermarket parts available are the replacement surrounds.
There was this case of burnt voice coil in a pair of 17W75. The entire cone assembly had to be pulled out very carefully for voice coil replacement. These coil which you see in the attached pics were the closest to the originals. It had 2 layer of CCAW wire wound on (TIL) glass composite former. Though the original had an aluminium former. The entire job was very carefully done since this a single piece injection molded polymer cone with built in dust cap.
Since the dust cap is not removable ...centering the voice coil without using shrims was very tricky but was done successfully.
The results were amazing .... no rubb no buzz. Seemed to be a next to impossible job intially but at the end it resulted as an effort towards success.
