Browsing channels this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find Star Movies HD on channel no 366. I called up RD's call centre to subscribe to it but looks like I have to wait for a day for it it be activated as they are saying that they just got the pack and asked me to call back tomorrow.

Looks to me like they have also added Star Sports HD and Star Plus HD

Waiting is the fun part !!!

There is a new pack called Ultra sharp 2 which has all the hd channels for around Rs83
Movies now HD,Star sports HD,Star Movies HD,Star plus HD,NGC HD,I-concerts HD and they may soon add discovery HD.So all this for Rs83

Its better,in my view and the general opinion is reliance picture quality is the best out there.
The drawback is the slow user interface.

Thats a good news for hd viewers, waiting it to be activated in my sun hd.how about the sound does they provide dolby digital 5.1 audio?

Got the Ultra-Sharp 2 HD pack activated yesterday night.

Called the toll free number around 7 times, listened to 'Your call is important to us' for a total of around 20 minutes or more on the whole, talked to 8 people out of which 4 did not know anything about star movies HD and did not make an effort to find out, 2 categorically stated that the only HD channels available on RD are NG,Star Plus,Movies Now and IConcerts and tried very hard to convince me that it was Movies Now that I want and not Start Movies. One good chap went through a lot of effort to find out and told me that I could definitely get it activated sometime soon and the last chap that I spoke to, bless him, did activate the pack in under 2 minutes !!!

Makes it really hard for me to digest all this seeing that these guys and girls must be sitting under the same roof and sharing the same network !!! But all is well that ends well and I am now watching 6 HD channels for 83 rupees.

Some observations (Please note that these are observations of an amateur of content watched on a 30" Samsung CRT 8 odd years old)

Star Plus vs Star Plus HD (I don't watch this channel)

1. Appeared like different programming on HD, can't say for sure.
2. Sound levels lower than SD
3. Picture quality Could not find much of a difference on my TV
4. 4 x 3 vs 16 x 9

IConcerts

1. Same programming
2. Same sound levels
3. Picture quality Could not find much of a difference on my TV
4. Both 16 x 9

Star Movies Vs Star Movies HD

1. Different programming
2. Same sound levels on both
3. Picture Quality looks good even on my TV
4. 4 x 3 vs 16 x 9
5. No Advertisement breaks

On the whole, I think 83 bucks well spent. They have discontinued my separate subscription to Nat Geo HD and Movies Now HD on my request.

And yes, I need to upgrade my TV soon !!!

PS: Thanks again to Adder for letting me know of the Ultra-Sharp 2 pack. Did not seem like I would have got this suggestion from the good guys and girls at RD.

Yes, I guess it's easier to see the difference as the screen gets bigger. Is the reliance logo and/or the RD DTH as a whole causing any problems for the plasma ?

This TV is calling my name but am pretending not to hear.

Experience the Plasma + 1 difference. - PS64D8000FR - Plasma TV - Television | SAMSUNG

in hd dvr the logo is quite small, perhaps the smallest in all dth.Only thing is it is not transparent. I dont see any issue. infact i am not at all bothered about the image retension anymore.
