ESPN HD coming soon in Tata Sky and Airtel

Airtel digital TV and Tata Sky have signed the contract with ESPN HD. However, before the World Cup begins, all DTH operators will be offering ESPN HD, an industry source told FE. When contacted, an ESPN spokesperson declined to comment saying the company was in talks with DTH operators. Even on the cost of ESPN HD, the spokesperson declined to comment. One of the leading DTH operator told FE that during World Cup cricket, operators expect sell around 1.5-2 lakh DTH HD boxes. If all the six DTH operators manage to sell 2 lakh HD connections, then they will be able to recover cost of obtaining ESPN HD. If they fall short, then the deal will result in a financial loss, a executive of a DTH company said. :clapping:

Obviously it will be event based,there is nothing to worry because all the hd dth provides will provide it,as they did before for events like ipl and fifa world cup, mostly it wont be a pay channel for the subscribers,dth operators will be keen to sell the hd boxes using this event by giving colourful discounts.

Hi all,

Tatasky is going to provide ESPN HD for WC

but , i didn't get any notice or alert from Airtel that they are also going to provide ESPN HD channel for this WC 2011...

Please suggest i can retain my Airtel HD STB or i will change to Tata Sky HD+ or Sun Direct HD (if the same situation continues )?

Please some one give me good suggestion on this...

Unknowingly i took AIRTEL HD STB some 3 months back , only one NGC HD able to watch

As per current information from Airtel customer care ICC cricket world cup is not available in HD format on AIRTEL HD DTH. They dont have any complete information whether they will be able to deliver or not

No hd dth provider will assure the customers until they broadcast.i got the same reply from sun hd.

ESPN Software India have confirmed that Tata Sky, Dish TV & Airtel have signed contract with them, that will enable these DTH providers to telecast ESPN HD from today onwards.

Talks with others (Reliance & Sun) are still on & they are expected to sign contracts by eod today.

So more or less every DTH provider will add ESPN HD in their portfolios by today (or max by start of 1st game).

Sun hd has added two test hd channels in their hd channel list today they didn't named the channels yet ,channel no 960 and 961,mostly they will relay the opening ceremony in hd ,if not live matches in hd.
