fake ebay spade connectors

hi,
i purchased spade connectors from Ebay.
the description states it is gold coated and high quality.expecting cast brass/copper with gold coating.one corner the description states made in Germany.Got the parcel yesterday. opened and found the spades gap is little less to my speaker connectors. just try to little open. one was broken.
my surprise,it is made of plastic,covered with some shiny gold coating.
complete fake.
Pls make sure while purchasing something from Ebay.

Made of plastic? I can understand if it is made of any other metal but made of plastic means it shouldn't work, it is fraud. File a case against seller "I received an item that does not match the seller's description". You will get your money back, but you may have to return the item.

Are you sure it is not metal? May be it is cast aluminum which has propensity to break the way it appears on the pic.

Even I don't think anyone will have audacity to fabricate a plastic spade connector. Did you check for its conductivity?

again..rather than buying cheap connectors you are better off with bare wire. connectors are where there is potential with higher degrade..you may lose the benefit of a good cable with a bad connector

thanks for responding. i was completely disappointed while seeing that one. it is dull white finish. not checked the conductivity. let me check that one.
it is very light weight.not a proper spade.

Plastic? I'm shocked. I'm also rather amazed, because plastic would not be very cheap to manufacture. Maybe a cheap mould could be made for cast aluminium.

But I think it will work, because the metalic plating will conduct the current. Probably, though, not very well and not for long.

Go for bare wires. Unless the connectors are crimped by a high-pressure machine*, the contact strength in the connector screw, and it might just as well be at the speaker screw which reduces the number of unreliable metal/metal interfaces


*or ultrasonic welded

yes, i shown this to my friend and he confirmed me it is cast aluminium but of very cheap quality.finally i dropped the proposal and using the bare wire.
