Hi guys,
As some of you guys might have my read my other thread. I have been building my new house and a dedicated home theater in it.
You can read further details here.
Quick review, Room is 20' x 10' with approx 7.5' height. 2 rows of recliners. False ceiling using acoustic board. Aurica bass traps and wall panels (to be installed). Projector currently is Optima HD65.
I have reached the final stages now and so am deciding on the projector screen.
I am in a fix.
1) To go for fixed screen using Carl's Blackout Projector Screen cloth . Link.
I can get a 110" x 66" screen. And then get the carpenter to fix it. Total cost won't exceed 9K as per my calculation (including labor and frame).
Or
2) To have a motorized screen and an LED/Plasma TV behind the motorized screen (which can sometimes be used instead of the Projector). I am in a fix. Got a quote of 22K for 110 " x 58" motorized Grandview. I don't have a spare TV yet for the HT room, but in due time I can always get one. Is it a good idea to have a TV in the HT room behind the drop-down screen.
OR
3) Same like #2, but get a manual drop-down screen
Note for moderators: Guys, I really think we need a dedicated home theater build thread on this forums. My original thread was initially under Projectors and Screens, which I kindly got shifted to acoustics after members pointed out that it should be under acoustics. While that is okay, I see many threads for HT builds under Projectors and Screens now. So I think we should have a dedicated Home theater build thread. And subforums for projectors and acoustics where people want to obtain more information for the same. Thanks.
