Friend coming from Spore - what to buy?

also check the price of marantz amps (8003) in richersounds in UK. Do you expect it cheaper in the s'pore?
I would need names of specific stores that are trustworthy and offer great pricing to ask him to buy something.

Some months back i also wanted to get something from singapore through my friend. Marantz AVR's were almost same price of grey market here. Only good option i was getting was Denon 1911 since they were sold with free speakers for which dealer was willing to give additional discounts if bought without them. (Approx Rs.24k)

What I finally got
-> ipad 2 with leather case
-> tokina 11-16mm wide angle
-> camera bag

Except for ipad 2, I think everything else in India could have been cheaper. Tokina was a little difficult to find though at that time.

It all depends on from where exactly you are buying in Singapore. While high end audio maynot prove too economical with the difference in pricing being minimal the normal consumer goods might prove to be much cheaper if bought at the right source. The items like iPads / iPhones, SONY LCD/LED and some of the camera's and lenses might be cheaper at NARANJAN Electronics ( popularly known as Sardar's shop....race course road off little india). The high end camera's might be better with ensured quality at John 3:16 shop at Funan Digital Mall or Sim Lim.

For high end audio gear Adelphi is ofcourse the ultimate source. Try at Alpha at Adelphi Level 1 for the all medium to high end audio gear including the Maratze, Denon, Yamaha, MS, Mission, Wharf's and others.

Anant, there are lots of used hifi shops in Singapore and Hongkong. Check out echoloft.com for a number of people selling used stuff in the classifieds section. Most of them have physical stores where you can go and see/check the equipment. However you should only buy used items yourself and never ask a friend or relative to go and buy for you....
