Got a call from Tata sky a few mins back. They informed limited stocksof STBs are available now. I made my payment through an IVR. I should be getting the STB in 3-5 days.

Got the call from TataSky few hours back and went ahead with the purchase @ Rs.2599 via IVR. ETA: 3-5 days.

Offer: All channels are free for 1 month if paid through Visa/MasterCard. The sales person was not sure if the offer covered the HD pack though ;-)

I was told that Grand pack will be free for one month, but i believe that package will not have all the channels. We need to subscribe separately for HD and sports :sad:

HDMI cable is part of the pack. :clapping: So no need to buy this outside. I would guess that WorldCup in HD might be a driving factor in this timely release. Will have to wait and see.

I have an annual mega pack subscription and the sales guy said that i would get all HD channels free as part of the existing subscription itself till the duration of the subscription at no extra cost!! Hope that remains true!

Images of carton of Tata Sky HD+ (with pvr have surfaced).So it may be worth waiting for some.
Its supposedly from made by a company called pace which also makes Airtel PVR boxes.
It could be anyone of t he DVB-S2 STB in this page but may have different aesthetics High Definition Personal Video Recorders (PVR) - Pace

Nope, this doesn't have STB facility - just the ability to receive HD channels. The TS HD + service hasn't started yet, but I've heard speculations that this is coming up in the near future (nothing official from TS yet).

By the way, I got in touch with them and booked a TS HD box. Should receive it in 2-3 days
Charge: 2599 bucks with 1 month of their "Grand Package" free. Will need to take the HD channels (Nat Geo, Discovery and Star Plus) and sports channels extra.

I made the payment on 20th of this month and today morning i got my installation done and as i was heading to office couldn't check much. Call the CC and ask them for the update, i placed a call yesterday and within an hr the installation guy called and took an appointment for today morning.

Any idea if the box is available in Chennai. Customer care told that it will be available for 25th onwards and promised to call me. But nothing has happened so far. I have been waiting for more than a month for this box.

I think it is a cheap trick from Tata sky to hold the prospective customers from moving to other dth providers by generating some buzz that box is available and supplying few boxes here and there.

20-Jan, 2011: Booked HD-STB via tele-sales
24-Jan, 2011: Installation Committed on 25-Jan,2011 afternoon by the call centre when queried for status.
25-Jan, 2011: Nobody turned up on 25th nor they made any intimation about any delays. Wasted a half-day leave waiting for these unprofessional buggers.

Called and blasted the CC guys (and the manager) who were literally of no use in finding out why the installation didn't happen as committed. Surprisingly they don't have any new date commitments even after multiple follow up's since today afternoon.

To me this looks like the start of a very unprofessional customer service experience...
