Mind sharing exactly what you are trying to achieve?
Chromecast is primarily a "mirroring" device i.e. it will mirror the contents of your smartphone or tablet onto a bigger screen like TV.
If its TV channels you are looking for then Roku is the best option followed by Amazon TV, but note most channels will not work unless you have a US IP (easily achieved via VPN or proxy) and a subscription.
If you are looking to stream content on your PC then Chromecast will work, but note a lot will depend on your wifi and router capabilities. Most routers are limited to the N channel and will not stream HD video, for that you will need a dual band AC channel capable router and these start around 9-10K and a lot depends on how far is your TV from your router.
Other ways to stream content are to enable media sharing on your PC and share via router (you will still need a Chromecast or mirroring device if you want to use a smartphone or tablet as remote or even as a media library) or simply use a smart router that has a USB support and can stream media.
If you can share what you are looking to stream (SD or HD content) along with any paid services like Netflix then more "specific" inputs can be shared.
